water wars | july prompt

It was a particularly warm day in Burrowgatory, so the beaches by the Forneus Sea were bustling and lively with many buns from all parts of town. Dexter grumbled as he sat under his umbrella, his knees pulled close to his chest, "I don't know why you brought me here, Jeanne. The AC was working just fine at home."

"Oh, c'mon, you gotta get out in the sun some time this summer, so why not enjoy it a little today?" Jeanne smirked and cocked his water gun. Dexter immediately gave him a glare, his face reading 'don't you dare'. Yet, Jeanne did dare, and he immediately pointed the gun at Dexter, spraying him down in a particularly cold wash. He immediately growled as he wiped the water off of his face, standing up and tipping over the umbrella "I'm gonna KILL YOU!!! GET BACK HERE!!!"

Jeanne laughed and started running around while Dexter chased him, spraying him down multiple times even while Dexter was hot on his heels.

Eventually, Dexter gave up on the chase, growling deeply, "Two can play at that game..."

He took up one of the other water guns Jeanne brought along, it already well equipped with water. He began to chase Jeanne down again, them both going at it back and forth with cold blasts of water. Jeanne laughed as he went to spray Dexter one more time with the gun, but, much to his dismay, found that his was all out of water. He stopped and stared at horror as Dexter came bearing down at him with multiple blasts of water, which resulted in him tumbling to the ground.

Dexter sat on top of him, pointing the water gun directly at his face, "Had enough??"

"I yield, I yield!!!" Jeanne raised his hands in conceding defeat while he laughed, "Now get off of me you big ol' lug, you're crushin' the goods..."

Dexter got off of him while grumbling, brushing some of his sopping wet hair back out of his face, "You know better than to try and beat me at fight of any caliber..."

"Yeah yeah, I know, but if I didn't run out of water, I would've-?!" He winced as a water balloon popped on the back of his head, drenching his hair in water. He panicked and looked around, trying to see where it came from, "H-Hey, who!??"

June was standing behind them nearby, tossing a water balloon up and down, "Hey there, handsome~"

"Oh, wassup, June!!" Jeanne smiled and stood up, then smirked and took the water gun from Dexter, "You're gonna regret doing that~"

June's eyes widened, then she yelped as Jeanne sprayed her down, and they began the chase around the beach just as Dexter and Jeanne had done before. This left Dexter all alone, sopping wet and grumbling. He was about to return to his beach towel and tipped over umbrella before a water balloon hit his back, "...??"

He turned and saw June and Jeanne waiting on him, Jeanne smiling and motioning for him to join, "C'mon, sourpuss, you can't be done yet!"

Dexter gazed at them, then smirked slightly. Well, what was the harm in joining back in on the 'fun'. He went off and joined them back in the water war, spending the rest of the day "having fun in the sun", as they say.
