[Lenny]: Safe and Sound
It was the end of a tiring day and Lenny wanted to do nothing more than just lie down after soaking in a hot bubble bath. They exit their bathroom, a hot steam coming out and rising when in contact with the cool air of the bedroom. Lenny quickly pats down their body and ears with a small towel and flops over on their bed. It was the softest thing ever, and it felt like they were floating on a cloud. The night was still early but they were already more than ready for bed.
Suddenly, their doorbell to their apartment rings and Lenny looks up in confusion. Who could be here at this time…? They quickly jump up and pull over a fluffy bath robe with a duck motif on its front. They hop on over to the front door and take a peep through the peep hole.
It was pouring outside and under a clear colored umbrella was one singular bun who stood at the doorstep looking around sheepishly. It was… Shibani! What was he doing here so late at night?
Suddenly, the sound of distant thunder reverberated throughout the walls and both Shibani and Lenny jump slightly at the sound of it. Shibani door bells two more times, looking nervous.
“OH! Come in, come in!” Lenny says, hurriedly undoing the locks on their door. Poor Shibani. The thunder must’ve shook him bad!
“Thank you!” Shibani says, quickly folding the umbrella as soon as he gets inside and shaking some of the rain off of his fur slightly. “Let me get you a towel-” Lenny says, hurriedly ushering the other inside. “What’s wrong, Shi-shi?” they ask worriedly. “It’s unlike of you to be out so late at night.”
Shibani shivers slightly as Lenny wraps them up with a warm towel. “Oh. I just couldn’t sleep.” Shibani says glumly. “I’ve always loved the rain but the thunder is too loud. Doesn’t make for a good nap at all.” he says with a sigh. Lenny smiles and nods. “It has been raining quite heavily lately, and the thunderstorms are a bit too much! Want to stay here for the night?”
The white bunny’s eyes light up happily. “Really!” he says with a smile. “Oh thank you Lenny, it’s just that… your place was the nearest and you have the most wonderful sleepy time tea-”
Lenny motions for Shibani to get into the bed and beams. “Say no more. I’ve got you covered.” they say, already hopping over to the kitchen.
A few minutes after both have had their cups of sleepy time tea, Lenny opens the blanket for Shibani to crawl into. Both have fashioned a temporary pillow pile for Shibani complete with stuff toys, blankets and pillows. It was the comfiest nest Lenny ever had the pleasure of sleeping in.
Lenny pat’s Shibani’s little bunny head and snuggles him close. “Don’t be scared. I’ve got you.” they say softly, their voice soothing and kind.
Outside, the rain pours and thunder roars. But inside, the two buns are safe and sound.
