[Gift] Mint Choc Chip
The heat hit burrowgatory like a wave of hellfire.
It was hot, sticky and unbearably humid. This was a day to sit under the shade of a large palm tree or bathe in the cooling waters of the ocean - not to be stuck inside without an escape route of any kind!
Miette and Cynthia agreed. And to avoid the heat, they both dawned sun hats and weather-appropriate clothing. Making sure to be covered in sun cream so they didn’t burn as they hit the town in search of some delightful frozen treats to have on this fine summer's day.
Miette loved ice cream.
The sweetness of the flavours, the texture of the whip and the crunch of the cone. They loved every flavour. Strawberry, bubble gum, coconut, chocolate, vanilla - hell, they’d even eat banana ice cream if it was put in front of them, but their favourite flavour of all was mint chocolate chip, and their favourite ice cream shop had the best mint chocolate around.
The ice cream itself was smooth and rich, and the flavour was perfect. It didn’t taste like toothpaste or car mints - but a perfect blend of refreshing mint mixed with the sweetness of sugar. The chocolate in the ice cream wasn’t shitty little specs. No, they were big massive chunks of chocolate that created an overwhelming sense of deliciousness when you bit into them.
Miette’s tail whipped back and forth in excitement as they thought about the ice cream, drool dripping from the corner of their mouth.
“Mmmmm,” they murmured as they wiped away the saliva and took Cynthia’s hand. She wasn’t the biggest fan of ice cream, but she supported her partner's excitement for the cold, sweet treat and on a today like today, maybe she would partake in the frozen dessert and sample some for herself.
They finally arrived at the ice cream bar. Pops Popsicles, Ice Creams And Frozen Treats - or Pops’ as most people called it.
Miette excitedly bounded inside with Cynthia still attached to their hand. The other stumbled after her only to stop and stare at the never-ending queue of people in front of them.
Oh, that was a lot.
Miette hopped from foot to foot in anticipation in frustration as they were forced to wait in line. With each small minuscule step, the bun got more impatient, gripping onto Cynthia, impatience getting to her.
When they got to the counter, after what seemed like a never-ending nightmare to Miette and in turn their girlfriend, the sloth succubun skipped to the counter only to be in shock with what they saw.
No. Mint. Choc. Chip.
“Unfortunately, all we have left today is coffee, dearie,” said Pops behind the counter. Miette sunk with disappointment. Coffee. Coffee flavour ice cream.
This couldn’t be.
There was in fact one flavour Miette hated.
Despised even.
And it was coffee.
“Why…why ice cream, my one true love in the world, why did you forsake me,” Miette cried, putting their hands on the glass and staring at the untouched tub of coffee-flavoured ice cream.
They opted to leave, sadly drooping outside only to watch Cynthia order a double scoop of coffee and walk over to the sulking Miette.
“This is really good,” Cynthia said as she licked the ice cream happily. The contrast between the bitter and the sweet - it was perfect!
“Well, at least one of us got ice cream,” Miette sighed and stood. When offered a lick, she took it but pulled a face of absolute disgust. At least it was really nice out.
Miette really wants to get their hands on some mint choc chip ice cream to beat the heat!
