Madeira looked dubiously at the wreath in her hands. It seemed very large to her, but it was supposed to fit on a door? She chewed her lip as she considered it. It had seemed like a fun idea to try when she had seen a bunch of other succubuns buying them, and a trend article about how it had been introduced by cherubuns... but that had been when she had bought it, which was a whole different thing from actually trying to hang the thing, and reality had been sinking in as she walked back to her apartment.
At least she'd possessed the good sense not to get a live wreath. With her busy hours at the restaurant, there was no way she would have time to deal with making sure to keep a plant alive. The only reason she could even handle having so many imps was that they didn't need to eat - though she often fed them bits of the foods she made anyways. A living plant that needed to be fed and watered regularly would have been completely out of her ability to manage. (There was a good reason Dee always got her the cut flowers and never the planeted ones, after all).
She supposed she should stop staring at her door and actually take the thing inside. Maybe somewhere in the bag attached to it were instructions on how to actually hang it..?
Imps danced at her feet as she opened the door, Maraschino whining particularly loudly and trying to fling herself into Madeira's arms. The little strudel flopped onto the floor in abject misery when she realized that her pet succubun simply didn't have the ability to hold her due to the wreath in her arms.
"Oh stop sulking, I just need to set it down and I can give all you over dramatic things some pets," Madeira grumbled, making her way very slowly past the door and towards the living room. It was still a surprise to see how much her life had grown and changed since arriving in Burrowgatory - that she lived on her own, that she had nice things... That a silly impulse purchase of a wreath wouldn't ruin her financially. She even smiled at that thought as she placed it on the couch, preparing to sit herself.
Belatedly, she remembered to go close the door, which brought the imps following after her once more - minus the pampki, who were all very intently examining the wreath. She giggled when she turned from shutting the door to see Pepo climbing into the center of it, and took a moment to pull out her phone and snap a picture. It was terribly cute seeing their interest - she wondered if she could get another wreath and put a bed in it to convince them to use an imp bed... If it didn't work out hanging this one on the door, at least it showed promise for that.
Wading back to the couch, she scoopd Pepo out and onto her lap as she sat, taking a few minutes to give pets to all the imps. That done, she was able to pull the bag off the back of the wreath and open it. (There were a few moments where she had to let all the imps examine the bag before she actually could manage to look in it herself).
There was a small piece of folded paper, and a surprisingly small metal hook and nail inside.
She frowned a bit, but opened the folded paper to read it.
Step 1: Place hook in the center of the door, close to the top of the door.
Step 2: Use hammer and nail to drive the hook into place.
Step 3: Locate the ring on the back of your wreath.
Step 4: Place the ring on the back of your wreath over the hook, and ease it into place.
Step 5: Enjoy your wreath and show it off on social media!
"It can't be that easy," she muttered to herself, before lifting the wreath off the couch to rotate it. "The back side has to be the side without any of the fancy baubles or glitter on it, right?"
The ring was not readily apparent until she started to poke her fingers in between the branches. At last, she finally felt a tiny metal ring. It was definitely going to be a pain to refind it, though.
But at least it was there, so she could start on- Did she actually own a hammer?
...eh, she had a kind of worn out food mallet that she had already replaced but hadn't gotten rid of yet. That was close enough. She went into the kitchen to get it. The imps followed her, of course, curious what she was doing - especially when she took it and the bag back outside, shutting the door again.
It was a little bit difficult to get the hook and nail into position, especially to make sure they were both high enough on the door. Still, with some finagling, she managed it. Hammering it in with the mallet was... not as easy as she had hoped for it to be, but eventually, she managed to get it hammered into the door.
Sighing, Madeira opened the door once more. The imps were all hiding in the living room from the noise, and she couldn't help but giggle when nine pairs of white eyes and one pair of red appeared from beneath the couch to give her reproachful looks. At least it made it easier to get to the wreath and get it out to the door once more - though she had to hunt for the ring once more.
A little more time on her tiptoes, and then- finally- it hung in the center of her door. Her fears it had been too large were not realized - it was a perfect size, actually.
She considered ignoring the step about sharing it on social media... but that was silly. It was pretty and fun, she could take a picture and share it. She pulled her phone out again, and carefully took a picture of it, before heading back into her apartment. Actually posting it, though, would have to wait. She had some imps to comfort, and dinner to make.
