Pursuit of Diligence Chapter 2 - Lottie
Lottie was not a delivery girl. She was a written and published romance author. She was just doing Primrose a favor by helping him out and in turn she was getting something. Guess she should be grateful that this time she wasn't digging around in dirt or being lectured.
Now that she thought about it. Lottie paused mid-step looking around. She had never been in this area before? Or maybe she had? It looked vaguely familiar, but she didn't often waste her time just wandering around random residential districts. That was weird. Why would you do that? If you were looking for friends just go into town.
She went and continued on her path, a cute little bag of tea leaves in hand. She remembered Primrose was very particular about the leaves that he picked. She would find that odd but when she asked about it he made it a point to emphasize that this was for someone who was similar to him but didn't elaborate much.
He did however give her a name and a description. They were a white bun with kind eyes and a halo. There was something more in the description but she was intrigued by the simple description. Another cherubun no wonder Primrose was being so particular. Wished he would be that kind to her but she was asking too much too soon. Eventually he would warm up to her.
She's love to pick his little purist brain for her stories. It would be so fun to be able to write someone like him. Didn't like his attitude but there's a market out there for people like him and she would be happy to tap into it. Love is love. She would be happy to assist in people finding their own niche. Plus she mostly had fun contributing to everyone's interest.
Ah, she should focus before she got lost again. She looked around to make sure she was going the right way. She was. In fact she was pretty sure she could see the home she was looking for up ahead. She double checked before confidently went up to the door knocking on it gently. She was a lady after all. She saw no need to put too much force into it.
She waited patiently for someone to come to the door. She could hear someone from the other side. Before the door gingerly opened revealing a white haired bun. Just like Primrose described but what he failed to mention was just how adorable they were. Now, what was their name. It was escaping her at the moment. Maybe she hadn't been listening. Primrose does seem to like to hear himself talk.
"Hello, can I help you," they asked.
"Yes! Primrose asked me to deliver these tea leaves to you," Lottie said cheerfully.
"Oh! Thank you," they paused a bit waiting for Lottie to hand over their name.
"My name is Lottie. It's very nice to meet you," she said, "Primrose speaks very highly of you..."
"Dove," they said with a smile. She gave out a slight chuckle. She seemed a bit amused at Lottie's compliment, "I didn't know he thought of me that way," they said sounding a bit amused.
"Oh! Would you like to come in for a bit of tea before you head back," Dove asked, "I just started making some before you came over."
Oh! They got an invitation. That was so night of them to do. Dove didn't have to do that for little old them. That was too kind of them. Plus she wasn't really that much of a tea fan. More of a sweet tea or hot chocolate fan but she could put aside her sweet bias to spend more time not doing any work.
Procrastinating. She was very good at doing that and she was going to be continuing to do that. Cause what fun would it be to go back to doing more work for Primrose when she could just have a bit of tea with Dove and have casual small talk.
"I would love to if it's not too much trouble for you, Dove," Lottie said with a smile.
"Of course it's not too much trouble. After all, you already went through the trouble of delivering me these tea leaves. It would be my pleasure to treat you to some tea," Dove said as they moved aside motioning Lottie in.
They were already much nicer than Primrose. See what being nice and polite to people right away does? It makes you want to do things for them. Primrose really needs to learn a thing or two from them.
Lottie walked in with a smile taking the time to look around. This didn't look like home for one... or at least it seemed like there was at least another person living in this home. It did look like it was only recently that this house was getting a bit more of a sweet touch but she shouldn't judge... not this time but Dove really should tell their roommate to let them decorate more.
It broke Lottie's heart that someone so sweet and cute was living in such an under-decorated place. Dove could do so much better. Decoration wise. Though maybe Lottie was being dramatic (she was). No of course she wasn't it was the principal of everything! Homes were meant to be decorated into a lovely den filled with things and people you loved. It's how she wrote the settings in her books.
This wasn't about that. She found herself led into the kitchen and she watched as Dove put the tea leaves down pulling out a darling tea set as well as a matching tea container.
It was clear that Dove was very used to doing this kind of thing. It only took them mere moments steeping the tea and the replacing the tea leaves Lottie had just brought before they brought the tea pot and a pair of matching cups.
They took their time pouring the tea into each cup. Lottie was mesmerized. How could someone look so beautiful serving tea? How lovely.
"Here you are Lottie!" Dove said as they sat down across from her.
"Thank you Dove," she said. If all her errands ended with her getting a drink or spending time with someone as kind and lovely as Dove then she wouldn't mind if Primrose sent her out more often.
