Loving Candlelight
There were many possibilities, maybe outcomes, to what Damien could see when opening his boyfriend’s apartment door. Friends, lovers, even imps running rampant, but those all paled in comparison, to a room of candlelight.
The lust doll took a few steps forward, his expression furrowing as the door clicked close behind him. He slipped off his jacket with a quiet hush, carefully tiptoeing his way inside. Andre’s apartment was never silent, even alone, there were still his imps, it was unnerving for Damien.
He noticed the candles were red, melting on the surfaces they were hazardously placed, and with a strong scent of burning wax.
“Andre?” His voice was quiet, cautious, “What the hell is all this crap?”
With a creaking door, enough to startle Damien, Andre interrupted with soft laughter. “Baby, you’re not supposed to be scared.”
It took the other doll a moment to piece together what was happening and once he did Damien was angry. He snapped, putting a hand over his heart, “Oh shove it asshole! What’s with all the creepy candles?”
Andre raised an eyebrow, looking unimpressed as he sarcastically replied, “I know it’s crazy, but some people think it’s romantic.”
“Romantic?! Romantic… oh fuck-” Damien groaned. “You put this together for a date and I’m fucking it up?”
“Pretty much.”
“What, don’t agree with me you dick!”
Andre rolled his eyes, stalking forward the few feet between them and dropping his voice an octave, “Baby, shut up. I’m trying to romance you and all the yelling is killing it.”
Damien instantly covered his mouth with one hand, looking a bit awkward as he unconsciously obeyed. He whispered, “Don’t use that voice for stuff like this, it’s not fair.”
Andre shrugged, “Works for sex, why not this?” He wrapped an arm around Damien’s shoulders, “Don’t you want to see what I did? It’s out of my element, but I wanted to make it at least a little fun.”
Damien slumped against his boyfriend, sighing, “Okay, fine, show me what you did.” He wasn’t really into the whole romance thing, beyond actually falling for his bandmate. It was something else for them both to actually act the loving type. But there was a part of him that was a little excited to see what had been planned for them.
Andre didn’t waste any time in dragging his boyfriend along to a table set up in the middle of the room. “It’s nothing all that special, just some candles. Maybe we can sit around for a while like this huh? Really soak it in.”
Damien snorted, “Before it starts a fire?”
Andre waved his hand dismissively as he laughed, “It’s not gonna stop a fire, but keep teasing me and I’ll find some other use for these candles.”
“Better not, Ego wasn’t happy about all the bite marks last time. Which I’m guessing would be burn marks this time.”
“Baby I wouldn’t pour something boiling on you, it shouldn’t leave marks.” If they were going to play like that, Andre would make sure neither of them got hurt.
Damien playfully scoffed as he moved to sit at one of the chairs, gesturing to the other chair, “Go on, stud, do this cheesy stuff, romance me up.”
“You really know how to set the mood,” Andre teased, sitting at the other chair. He reached across the table to grab Damien’s hand. “Damien?”
“Yeah?”
“I love you.”
There was a moment of silence, before the lustful doll turned bright red, desperate to cover his face with his free hand: “What the hell! You can’t just say that! Isn’t this shit like subtle?”
Andre looked amused, laughing under his breath, “This isn’t the first time I’ve said it, why are you reacting like that?”
Damien peeked through his fingers, “You don’t usually say it out of the blue like that, definitely not when we’re dressed.”
Andre hesitated, before admitting, “I want us to say it even when we’re doing nothing. Baby you know us, we sleep with everyone in our sights, but the only ones we love are each other.”
“Great way of putting it,” Damien scoffed, lowering his hand, “But it’s not like you’re wrong. Sure sex is great, but like when it’s you and me it’s different.”
“Yeah?”
Damien smiled shakily, “I mean who would do this candle crap for me but you? Look at us! Candlelight, holding hands at a table, we’re so disgustingly in love right?”
Andre chuckled, “Just sick with it.”
Damien sighed softly, “I know I don’t say it a lot, but I do you know, love you.”
Andre’s expression softened, “Yeah baby, I know.” He got up from the table, pulling Damien up into his arms. “I always know.”
Damien cuddled into his chest, “Let’s skip the sitting around okay? It’s Sinner’s Day, let’s do some mayhem, just you and me.”
Andre looked surprised, “Just us?”
“Forget the other losers in this place, let’s scandalize some people.” Damien snickered, leaning up to kiss his boyfriend.
Andre smiled, whispering against their kiss. “You little freak, yeah let’s go cause a scene or two.”
“Yeah, oh hang on,” Damien looked around them, “Probably should blow the candles out.”
“Just the candles?”
“You jackass,” Damien paused, “Although now that you mention it?”
Andre broke out into laughter, his chest shaking, “Let’s go before we never leave my place.”
With that, the pair disappeared into Sinner’s Day’s wild crowds, barely shutting the door behind them as they ran out laughing.
