Mission Imp-Possible: Totally Listening

Things sure did have an interesting way of working out, didn’t they?

Damian never set out to become an imp owner. Hell, if anything he was one of many buns that thought of the creatures as annoying little pests. Like, he knew he was pretty amazing. That should just be considered a given. However…

For the past few...days? Weeks? Damian had started to feel like some kind of demon-damned imp magnet. Not just one, but several different kinds of these creatures seemed to follow him around and, well…

Okay, being completely honest, it wasn’t like they were actively being annoying pests, like eating his food, stealing his things or generally getting in his way. If anything they kind of just tended to quietly follow the bun from a distance, observing him. Only sometimes braving coming a little closer than usual.

It was still frustrating, though. For starters he didn’t even know what kinds of imps these were. It wasn’t just one imp that was following him around and curiously observing him, much to his dismay, and it actually kind of bothered him immensely that he didn’t seem to know something as simple as what their names were. Species name, anyway. While all of this had been going on he had resorted to giving them little nicknames like ‘Fuzz’, ‘Scales’, ‘Bat’, ‘Bones’, and the likes. Some even had more than one nickname, just because.

What was he to do, though? He couldn’t, nor did he want to, spend the rest of his life being some kind of imp magnet. And it was something that happened so suddenly! One day he was just a normal bun going about his normal bun things around in Burrowgatory, then suddenly one day...this!

At the time he had thought that maybe he should just hope to some higher demon out there to take pity on him and have this all end as suddenly as it had started, but, er… For one; for some reason that thought annoyed him. He didn’t need pity. Secondly, he felt a need for some kind of...understanding? Like, who and what were these little fellas and why wouldn’t they leave him alone. It wasn’t because they were hungry. He’d been pretty sure about that. On more than one occasion he had offered the little pests food; some even had changed colours in the process! And then went back with a different snack.

Okay, that last one had been kind of a fun little experiment. Still!

If it wasn’t food these things were after then what? Toys? Other material goods? A place to stay?

That last one wasn’t happening, mostly because he had no clue how to even begin to take care of the little pests.

But what if that was the case, though? What if these little weirdos were trying to find a new home? They had never followed him all the way back home before, but for some reason… He wouldn’t be surprised if they knew were lived. Maybe they were biding their time? Plotting a break-in when he least expected it? The possibilities were endless, and kind of silly.

Still...would he be willing to home some, or at least one, of these things? After all of this? That might solve things, if only because then they’d have a place he could lock them in whenever he didn’t feel like having them follow him around. Hmmm...

Long story short; Damian eventually found himself at the Imporium, though not entirely by choice. If it were up to him he’d continue on with his life being one of the many buns of Burrowgatory that thought of imps as pests and just left it at that. Instead here he was, actively trying to learn more about these creatures and maybe, hopefully, find out why these particular ones suddenly had some weird attachment to him.

Maybe, maaaaaybe… Even keep one of the little buggers.

Hutch, as he learned was the owner of the Imporium’s name, seemed more than eager to teach him the ins and outs of imps, imp care and all other imp-things. The bun even seemed equal parts baffled and intrigued about the peculiar happening Damian had found himself with, initially asking him all sorts of questions about how long this had been going on and the likes. Not that he hated questions, especially about himself, just… Did he have to share the spotlight with imps?

A smokey sigh escaped the bun’s lips as Hutch droned on and on about imps this and imps that. Even though it was exactly what he had come here for he, admittedly, hadn’t really been listening. Not that the Imporium owner really seemed to notice that little tidbit. They were really, really into talking about imps, which was slowly starting to endear Damian towards the clearly passionate succubun. After all, buns that had a strong passion for things were hot. Maybe that’s why Hutch didn’t seem to notice his lack of attention; he wasn’t really listening but he was giving them all of the attention, which could be mistaken for...attention?

If only they could see Damian’s wandering eyes…

Actually, maybe it was for the best that Hutch didn’t. Not yet, anyway.

Hmm, actually, maybe it would work in Damian’s favour to show a little bit of interest in not just them, but also the imps they seemed ever so passionate about. After all, what better way to get into someone’s good graces, and potentially underclothes, than to show an active interest in not just them, but their interests as well.

He...had a little bit of catching up to do, though, considering he hadn’t really been listening up until now. Nothing a few questions that may or may not have already been talked about can’t fix, though. Didn’t seem to bother Hutch none, anyway. Bun just seemed happy to keep talking about and showing off the imps they seemed to love so much.

...how utterly endearing.

Ugh.

Neither of them seemed to keep track of the time. Damian kept asking Hutch more and more questions, of which Hutch had no problem to keep answering. It wasn’t even like it was just talking, though. Hutch also showed some of the imps he had around; showing and telling Damian this and that about each different imp he had out. Damian also had more questions about the species of imp that were following him around, another thing which Hutch was...fairly sure they had mentioned before, but hey. Nothing wrong with being thoroughly thorough, right? Could just be Damian asking just to be sure, which was never really a bad thing.

It was kind of amazing that, in all of this time, not a single other bun had stopped by. Sure more and more buns seemed to be keeping the little pests as pets, but it still wasn’t all that many, huh? Or maybe Damian was just lucky to have Hutch’s attention all to himself today.

Eventually the lessons had to come to an end, though. Imps in the store needed taking care of and, of course, both buns had to go on with the rest of their day. A look outside the window though made both buns realize that, whoops…

How long had they been going at it?

And, while Damian now felt significantly more knowledgeable and confident about imps, he still wouldn’t mind stopping by more often. Maybe not for as long as today, but… “Ah, I really kept you busy today, didn’t I? Sorry about that.” He apologized, and he really was apologetic, but that grin on his face still read more smug than apologetic. Like he was up to no good.

Not that Hutch seemed to catch on. “Oh, no need to apologize! I don’t usually get that many customers anyway, a-and… It’s always nice to talk to someone else that loves imps, h-haha.”

...bit of a bold statement, but Damian could maybe see him getting there. There were probably more like Hutch out there with a love for imps, so more stuff to talk, bond, and potentially win someone over with.

He grinned a little, giving the shorter bun before him a not-particularly-respectful once over. “Still… I should make it up to you somehow for stealing away so much of your time…”

That collar. That damned collar. It helped exactly zero that there was even a nice leash attached to it. All this time, or at least most of it, he had been beating back the temptation to just pull at it and bring Hutch closer to him. They were done here now though, so… Ever so casually the taller of the two lightly wrapped the leash around his hand, just to pull Hutch a little less lightly towards him; faces mere inches apart. “How about…I take you out for a drink sometime, yeah? My treat~” He purred.

While yes, Damian was trying to play it smooth with his actions he was not, however, expecting such a strong reaction from the other bun.

Hutch froze; their face going completely red. It looked like they were trying to say something, anything, but all that came out was a bunch of stutters. He could catch something like ‘w-w-w-w-what’ and ‘i-i-i-it’s not what you think’ in between everything else, but…

...that just made Damian tug on Hutch’s leash even more and bun; that sure was a whimper the shorter bun let out.

Yeah, no. See that? That was all of Damian’s self-control, vaulting right out of that window.

While a steady stream of smoke had constantly been escaping his mouth whenever it was open, it had never really been enough to fill the place up. However, right now, with each passing second, as his eyes started darkening with lust, so did the room they were in fill in with his golden smoke. His voice noticeably deeper as he spoke again.

“The drink offer still stands. However…” He started tugging on Hutch’s leash even more, leading him to the nearest, obscured surface he could find. Hutch wasn’t resisting, which was great. “...how about I show this good boy just how thankful I am right now, hmmm~?” Damian gave one more strong tug on the leash; using both that and the hand he had placed on the shorter bun’s hips to pull them in closer.

By the look of things, it didn’t look like Hutch was going to say no.

Yeah… Damian could definitely see himself enjoying being an imp owner now.
