Strawberry Season
Strawberry season! Such a delightful time of year! The sweetness and tartness of the delightfully red berries was always such a treat! So much so that Chaoshin had bought a huge load of them as a decadent treat for himself! He poked another piece of fruit with his fork, tail swaying playfully as he devoured the dessert he had prepared.
He really liked this particular variety of strawberries! They were a little more on the tart side compared to others, and that’s exactly how he enjoyed it. To his surprise it seemed that this sort didn’t sell as well as some of the others that were up for offer. It wasn’t entirely unexpected, but Chaoshin wanted the farmer who grew them to be able to keep doing this year by year, so here he was. With a bucket load of delicious strawberries! Literally. He had bought an entire bucket.
Now… as much as he wanted to eat all of them in one go, specifically because he tended to get rather bothered by light bruising that came in next day, he couldn’t! He was trying to! Even now he continued to stuff his face with them! But his stomach was just too damn full by now. It was starting to feel really uncomfortable…
Maybe he shouldn’t have added whipped cream and chopped almonds, but come ooon! It was one of his most favorite desserts! Freshly cut strawberries with a bit of sweetener and lemon juice and cinnamon flavored whipped cream, chopped almonds sprinkled on top! FUCK HE LOVED IT!
Even now, with his stomach overwhelmingly full he was still drooling at the thought of making and eating more! And he probably would, but at this point it felt like something he really needed to postpone for tomorrow. Seriously… if he ate any more, he felt like he might explode. He set down the fork and held his overly full belly. Eating any more at this point would be much more akin to torture than it would be to sinful indulgence, so he had called it quits there.
It’s alright, right? It was okay to give up on this particular endeavor, even as he still craved more of this delectable meal, right? Giving up on lofty goals wasn’t quite his style, but there was a limit to everything. And the limits in this case were the physical restrictions of his body. It was fine, he could always buy more tomorrow to make it all fresh again, so he’d get to indulge all over again! …though maybe he’d not buy quite as much in one go next time.
That being said, he would hate to leave the leftover berries to a fate of going bad just because his eyes had been significantly bigger than his stomach. He sighed as he rested his head on the kitchen table, staring at a couple cut up strawberries on a plate, as well as the nearby bucket which was still half full. He supposed he could try and plant some of them so he could try and grow some for fun? But what was he supposed to do with the rest?
He liked them fresh, okay? He was a picky eater! By tomorrow he’d be reluctant about eating them, he’d probably cut half of each strawberry away for the trash. What a waste that would be! And yet he wouldn’t have it any other way, because he was apparently weird like that! Huffing and growling a little he began to pull at his hair in frustration, trying to both empty his head of these obsessive thoughts as well as find a solution for his problem.
Unbeknownst to the Greed Bun, his Bearly had climbed onto the table, waddling towards the plate with the leftover bits of delicious red fruit. The imp wasted little time in poking the food with its tiny paws and making it disappear within less time than it took for Chaoshin to blink. It took the Succubun a hot second for his brain to register what was happening.
“BUNS!”
He jumped up and grabbed the half-filled bucket, before the Bearly could climb inside to devour everything. As cute as his pet was, Chaoshin knew better than to give this particular Imp so much food all at once! Truth be told, this Bearly had a penchant for hyperactivity when it had stolen too much food, and Chaoshin really preferred the little guy didn’t get into any shenanigans if he could stop it!
The Imp on the other hand simply continued to make grabby hands towards the Succubun, as if begging for more. Chaoshin doubted that Buns knew what exactly and how much was in the bucket, but it begged nevertheless. With a sigh of relief he grabbed one of the Strawberries and handed it to the Bearly.
“Alright, alright… chill out, I’ll give you one! But only one!”
Though… hhhmm… that was probably not a terrible idea! Giving the leftover strawberries to the Imps, that is. There were probably enough left for each of the Imps to get at least one. Chances were, they’d be pretty happy about the treat too! Admittedly Chaoshin had a bad habit of forgetting sometimes that Imps could actually eat. Probably because they didn’t need to be fed regularly, so he just wouldn’t think about it at all.
“Thanks, for giving me a good idea, buddy!”
He gave Buns a little pet on his head before walking away to find all of his little darlings! He might as well go have a look at how the new Imps were adjusting to their new home, as well as check on some of the building projects in the garden. ~
