My First Imp
Rosalind has so many imps but she has no idea what to do with them! She's very smart, so she's certain she can figure this out somehow... after a lot of contemplation, she felt pretty overwhelmed though! She does have eight of them after all. She decided to visit Hutch for help. Maybe they can help; after all, they're Burrowgatory's imp expert!
When Rosalind went to see Hutch for help with her imps, Hutch decided that they should help her take baby steps and learn the very basics of imp care. Starting off with something easy but also difficult, Hutch began to teach Rosalind about phloofs, of which she had none. Rosalind examined the phloof, which seemed to not be moving very much. She decided first to pet it, and finding it very soft she decided to pick it up to hug it. With a smile, she gave it a light squeeze and set it back down, only to find that the entire front of her body was now covered in phloof hair! "Sorry, Rosalind, I should have warned you about that before you picked it up," Hutch said sheepishly. "It's alright; learning to take care of the hair is part of learning to take care of the phloof, right?" Rosalind laughed softly. She tried to brush it off of herself, which was mostly a success, but there was still a little bit left behind. "Oh well..." she thought to herself.
"Hutch, if I brush the phloof will it shed less because all the extra hair is on the brush?" she wondered. "Well, you can certainly try!" Hutch replied, a bit intrigued. Rosalind took a brush and started brushing the little phloof, trying not to hurt it in any way. After about ten to fifteen seconds of brushing, the phloof was identical to its appearance at the start, but the brush was completely covered in hair! "Oh no... what have I done..." Rosalind sighed, barely audible. Hutch noticed that she was disheartened, and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"It's alright, Rosalind. Let's move on to something else," they said kindly. "Let's tackle this: feeding your phloof! You have to be careful what you feed it because as with all imps, certain foods can completely transform them. Just ask Dan; he can tell you all about the many incidents involving his dango and mochi! So for the most part, as long as you avoid those unless you ARE trying to transform your imps, you should be just fine," Hutch nodded matter-of-factly. Hutch had a large stash of many ingredients that could be fed to imps. "Since none of these ingredients are actually in their dango or mochi forms, they are perfectly safe to feed to any imps, including that phloof!" Rosalind picked up a bit of cheese and offered it to the phloof. The phloof took it eagerly and gobbled it right up, which surprised Rosalind. She thought it might hate her after all that brushing. "See," said Hutch as they noticed Rosalind's surprise, "it still likes you after all! Have you considered adding a phloof to your collection?" Rosalind shook her head. "Maybe not this time, Hutch... I'm still processing how much hair that thing created!"
