A Rainy Commute
A persisting downpour had just begun to sweep the Burrowgatory. The rain came quite suddenly and way earlier than what the weather channels had anticipated, much to the chagrin of a particular magenta-colored bun, who peeked out of the window of her gothic mansion.
“It’s already rainin’? I just woke up and it’s already here?? I thought it would come during the middle of the afternoon! Aw…” The bun, named Margaret, spoke to herself feeling mildly bummed seeing this sight.
Margaret was planning on visiting her wife, Moon. Knowing the rainy season is on the horizon, she thought of spending a big chunk of the month of rain with Moon at her place. However due to certain business matters keeping her at bay, she couldn’t get herself to arrange her visitation much earlier.
Margaret took a deep sigh. “This rain, going out like this…” She said as she took a seat on a nearby sofa. She is not much of a fan going out in the rain, due to her makeup and clothes being affected by it.
She waited for a bit with hopes of the rain lessening its intensity. An hour has passed, and then another, and then another. She just sipped on her warm coffee watching the scenery outside, and it barely changed; the rain remained in its consistent heaviness.
“Fine.” Margaret finished her coffee and stood up. She made the decision in her mind to head out to Moon, regardless of the rain.
-
Margaret puts on a raincoat, a simple pink-ish see-through raincoat that almost reaches her ankles, along with a pair of black rain boots that reach her knees. “Darn, I never thought I’d wear these.” After that, she brings out her umbrella; a simple transparent one. She doesn’t wanna bring her more stylish ones just to get them wet.
With her now fully equipped with everything to defend against the monsoon, she makes her way out of the front door, deploying her umbrella before going on her merry way to Moon’s place through the unrelenting rain.
-
Margaret walks along the wet-stained concrete sidewalk. The trek to Moon’s place isn’t that long, so much that she didn’t need a cab when heading there, however this rain has made this commute feel like a longer one to her. She is never used to the rain, and she doesn’t wanna waste her carats on cab rides. She’d rather spend them on other funner things.
That being said, the rain seemed to make the bustling neon-filled streets become more vibrant. Margaret looked around a little at her surroundings while walking, getting herself distracted a bit with the sight of various lit up stores and illustrious billboards as they passed by, only for her to just barely notice a certain small purple bun that was coming right in front of her.
“Ah hey! Watch it~!”
“Oof~!”
This bun turned out to be Vincent, who just bumped into Margaret and had himself a faceful of her ample see-through bosom before stumbling backwards in utter surprise.
“... Vincent?” Margaret’s eyes widened seeing him.
“Marge?” Vincent does the same looking back at her. Compared to Margaret, he is barely wearing anything that is rain-protective, only just wearing a hoodie, running shorts, and track shoes.
After a brief second of awkward staring, Vincent’s face turned into his usual goofy smile “Hi Marge. Sorry for bumping into ye like that” He said, laughing a little. “Don’t think I’ve eva seen ye out in the rain before.”
Margaret sighed, not minding him bumping into her like that one bit. She is used to it coming from him. “Hey Vincent. Yeah I guess you could say that. I wanted to go somewhere really badly, but then this rain came much earlier than expected.” She said with a nervous chuckle. “I’ve done a lot to cover myself from the wet but, girl this feels like ain’t enough…”
“Well guess so yeh? Yer… eye shadow there is slightly dripping I think.” Vincent pointed out, coming closer to look at her face. “Yer right eye.”
Margaret had a baffled look as she touched her face a little, indeed her makeup still got messed up a little even after all that. “Ugh, fuck.”
“Though it could just be me bumping into ya and whipping droplets on yer face, which I’m sorry aha.” Vincent sweatdropped, a look of slight panicked embarrassment on him.
“Eh? No no, it’s okay.” Margaret smiled little to reassure him.
-
The two of them are now just walking along the sidewalk together, with VIncent following closely beside Margaret. Vincent is jogging, his head bobbing up and down from view while keeping pace with her.
“Where er ya heading to by the way?” Vincent asked.
“To visit Moon. I wanna spend a few weeks or so with her durin’ this rainy season.” Margaret answered, just crossing her arms while holding her umbrella.
“Aw, why didn't you go earlier? When the rain still hasn't hit?” Vincent added.
“Burlesque club stuff, and some other things just stackin’ up to it, keepin’ me busy…” Margaret then looks back at him. “How about you? What in Murmur’s name are you doin’ out here in the rain dressed up like that?”
“Oh just jogging. Jogging in the rain is quite rank yeh.” Vincent laughed. “It just feels more exhilarating working out with a fucking shower all around ya.”
“Really?” Margaret raised a brow. “So this is what you do during these wet times huh?”
“Yeh.”
“Don’t you think you could catch a cold or somethin’??” Margaret asked.
“I don’t have time to get cold.” Vincent’s literal response to that as he just jogs along with a cheeky grin on his face.
“O… kay…” Margaret sweatdropped after hearing what he just said there. “Girl, how does this guy even operate…” She thought in her head.
“Anyway uh, I’ll be going now Marge. My path diverges here yeh.” Vincent said, going on ahead of her. “It was uhh nice talking to ya out here. Hope ye and yer wife have a good rainy season together.”
Margaret smiled at him. “Yeah. Also hope you don’t slip too or somethin’.”
“Hah don’t worry, these shoes are ‘anti-slip’. Been running around the rain with these for a while now.” Vincent laughed a little while doing single leg skips just to demonstrate it.
“Ehe, alright then. You do you hun.”
“See yer tits around Marge.” Vincent waved at her with a goofy smile on his face as he jogged away now into the soaking streets.
“Pff, classy.” Margaret chuckled, waving back at him.
She continued on her way to Moon’s place, with her mood now being lifted by her random encounter with a dear bestie. She eventually arrives at a familiar path and takes it, and after a while of walking, she finally sees Moon’s home.
With a smile on her face, she made her way to the front door, looking forward to having a fun time with her wife in this rainy season.
Margaret heads out into the soaking rain just to visit her wife. She runs into her beloved best friend along the way.
