[PROMPT] Rain Check

Cassius, the ever prideful priest knelt in the gardens behind the little chapel, tending to the gardens now that Spring had sprung, the warmer temperatures had brought blooming flowers. While gardening was not his favourite task, it was necessary and he could still find pride in making this little chapel shine beautifully.

A snip of shears here, replanting of a flower there to ensure sufficient sunshine, a little watering here to sate the thirst of a dry looking plant… Cassisus easily lost the time to his errand, so much so he did not notice the darkening skies above him, nor the few drops of rain hitting his back as he continued his work, at least not until the trickle turned to a torrent.

He stopped dead in his tracks, currently leaning halfway in a bush to clear out some weeds underneath, but it was too late, by the time he gathered his gardening tools he was drenched, his fur quickly saturating and sticking down against his skin.

“Where did all this rain come from?” He huffed to himself as he quickly hopped back towards the chapel, fumbling with the doorhandle, before finally stepping inside, into a small room that housed a number of different tools, most for tending to the outside parts of the building, kept here for easy access.

Setting the tools down he’d give a quick glance around… No towels, not surprising, he’d have to go fetch a few from the laundry room before he settled down in his bedroom. The sound of wet footsteps on stone echoed through the halls as he walked, a quick glance behind him, “I’ll have to mop later.” He thought to himself.

It was quiet, not surprising, warm spring mid afternoons did not usually call Bun’s to the church, especially in the outer suburbs of Burrowgatory… not unless they were particularly in need of course, and he was pretty sure Miss Eden was out running errands as well.

The sound of the rain only hit harder and harder as he walked into the laundry room, quickly grabbing a pair of towels from the clean and folded pile, unfolding one and using it to dry himself. He started with his face, then slowly moved down his body until he could feel the towel was too damp, and then switched to the other, reaching back and drying his tail so it did not drip anymore, and finally discarding the two towels into the basket of dirty laundry.

A happy sigh, the feeling of his damp fur made him feel like he was carrying a sack of grain on his back, though he was not completely dry, just no longer dripping all over the floors, to completely dry he’d begin back down the hallway, until he reached his bedroom, stepping inside and moving to the fireplace, scrunching up a few pieces of paper and setting some decent twigs and kindling over it, grabbing a match and quickly lighting the fire.

Pulling a chair close he’d sit by his fire, stoking and feeding it larger pieces of wood and logs, enjoying the warmth slowly drying his fur, before long he found himself sitting by it, shutting his eyes and listening to both the sound of the heavy rain hitting the roof, and the crackling fire filling his bedroom with warmth.

Until he could feel himself overheating, that is. Perhaps he had put too much wood on the fire… “No matter” He mumbled as he moved his chair back to the table he has by the window, electing to finish drying off at a distance, turning to watch the downpour, which still showed no signs of alleviating… At least he wouldn’t have to water the garden for a while.

Little puddles forming in dips in the yard, watching the raindrops ripple out as they hit them, watching treebranches bend and shake in the wind, he was impressed that the showers had continued on so long, perhaps they were in for a heavy storm tonight, in which case, they may have to be prepared to receive a number of Bun’s seeking refuge in the night…

“I can’t just sit here!” He shouted, jumping up quickly from his seat, he’d relaxed enough. With Bun’s, comes sins, and he could not offer refuge without indulgences. Each Succubun is different of course, some are easier to cater for than others, but he’d do his best to accommodate.

Quickly he moved back out of his room, once again stopping at the laundry to grab as many fresh towels as he could hold, any needing shelter from the rain, would need drying first. Then quickly into the transept and then the nave, setting the towels down on the pew closest to the main entrance of the church, and just as he did he heard the sound of the heavy wooden doors being pushed open.

“Hello! Come in come in! Let’s get you warmed up, and sinning like Murmur intended.”
