Childhood Memories featuring Ursa (by Boo!)
The soft sunlight peeking through the leaves and the warm spring air filled Ursa’s lungs. The Fluffy blue bun carefully traversed to his favourite little book nook in town. Ursa loved this particular bookstore, it was handicapped accessible and the staff was always so very friendly and sweet to him. It was also not a very busy place so he could easily tuck himself up in a corner of the book nook and read as much as he wanted. Soft tapping noises from his canes against the hardwood floors as he moved into the warm and enveloping bookstore. The enchanting smell of books and hot coffee that they offered for those who needed that little extra boost. Ursa’s little tail wagged happily as he travelled up to his favourite genre section in search of a new book he has yet to read. Carefully taking a few books off the shelf to read the backs of them before placing them back. As he travelled along the genre section, his eyes caught onto a brightly coloured section of the store. It was a Little Bun’s section complete with a train themed rug, Books with toys themed after them, Beanie bags and several other children’s books.
Ursa originally wanted to continue to look through his genre section but all the bright colors and the warm feelings of his childhood really began to draw him in…Maybe he could take a little look around just to reminisce for a while? The fluffy bun made his way to the empty area and began looking through the books, so many of them he used to devour as a child but his hands had touched several ‘I-Spy’ books and that seemed to be the end of it. Soft warm memories floating up in his mind about his young bun-hood. But the most fondest of memories slowly drifted up into his mind as he laid down into a beanie bag with an open ‘I-Spy’ book.
Other soft little buns running around in his memory were so excited to go on their first field trip to a very big museum as their chaperones filed them all in a neat little line, holding a rope so they wouldn’t wander away from their group. Ursa remembered wearing a big cute yellow bow around their neck and a hat with a duck face on it. He was so nervous, trying so very hard not to get left behind but as the trip moved on, his grip slipped further and further down the rope. He soon lost his grip completely and in the crowd of other buns, he lost the others. Ursa was scared and alone, he moved about on his crutches looking for them but he was so tired and ended up in another unfamiliar area. There were chairs and a large fireplace with books and several different trinkets spread across the wall. Ursa would move over and take a seat for himself and admire all the different trinkets. It felt like an I-Spy game, every time he moved his head a certain way he would find something new that he didn’t notice. It was rather fun and it helped soothe Ursa’s anxiety as he waited to hopefully be found. Strangely enough, all the excitement was lapped away by the comforting warmth of the fireplace and baby Ursa found himself asleep in the chair.
Ursa reminisced how he had awoken to the staff finding him sleeping away on a stage chair meant to represent a famous person’s room…Unfortunately, Ursa could not remember the name of the person it was so very long ago. He did remember that his Chaperone was very cross with him and that he was constantly within reach of them for the rest of the day. It spurred on his love for I-Spy books and that later branched off to his love for astrology and picking out every constellation he could in books.
He smiled as he looked at the pages and thought of this memory. Pages filled with all sorts of trinkets and themes like cotton candy skies with cherubs and flying horses to toy highways chalk full of different coloured toy vehicles and other things. It was very lovely to think about his childhood like this, until a warm and familiar voice spoke up and stirred him from his thoughts, “Ursa, my star child, what are you doing here?”
Ursa would look up to see another lighter coloured starry themed bun named Drukyul. Drukyul was his doting parental-like figure even if they were not related to blood. Druk’s husband was someone that Ursa had looked up to for guidance and the couple after meeting Ursa properly had in their own way, cradled him in their arms as if they were always family. Druk seemed to be without his life partner this time, holding a little gift bag more than likely shopping for a gift for their lover. Ursa spoke softly, “I’m just thinking of my young bun days, would like to reminisce together?”
Druk would hum softly with a soft smile before they sat down nearby them, “Yes, that sounds very nice.”
