OBSERVATION LOG 2024.03.30a: IMPORIUM

This recording is intended to be read or listened to before Observation Logs 2024.03.30b-e, but was recorded after that recording. This recording is quite short compared to any of the following recordings, as it is a sort of abstract to them.

After having cared for my newly adopted Impup, which I had named "Aim Constraint" for its persistence on always pointing my other imps in my direction in any situation, I had decided to make a visit to the Imporium. I had many questions about my Impup and imps in general.

I prepared my lists of questions, as usual for any interaction with a field expert.

I then prepared my shorter list of questions, as I have learned that bringing a list of questions over 10 increases the likelihood of frustrating a field expert. They are very particular about how their time is spent. It can be upsetting to know I have garnered the ire of someone so important.

With my own five imps and two lists of questions in tow, I began my excursion to the Imporium.

The residing field researcher was quick to find. Rather, they were quick to find me as I wandered about the institution. I recited the prepared introduction, though it had struck me that it was entirely necessary in this situation, with this individual. They were already engaged upon seeing me -- perhaps it was my imps?

This peer - Hutch is their name -- had taken me to a room off to the side to continue the conversation. I began recording our interaction. The ten questions I had prepared were over with in a longer than expected amount of time, which was appreciated, as this was due to the high level of detail.

However, something anomalous happened after this: we had engaged in a cycle of them asking for more questions, and I providing about two to three more, before they would ask for more again. At question 19, I thought it appropriate to expose my full, unredacted list of questions. They seemed quite pleased with this. While they had to step away occasionally to help other patrons, they always returned to provide more information. Not including these pauses, I have recorded approximately 6 hours of information about imps provided by this expert, gained while visiting with the institutions residing bulbugs as well. Hutch seemed to never falter in energy about his subject. This excursion can be marked down as a great success. I will definitely return to the Imporium with future inquiries.

Recording this now, 4.34 hours after leaving the Imporium, I still find myself smiling.

I'm so happy.
