Sadie and Her Lucky Treasure

One day, Sadie was taking a walk around Burrowgatory. She had recently heard that her favorite toy store just got some new plushies in stock and she wanted to check them out. Her favorite store was called "Cuddly Creations". Most of Sadie's plush toys came from there. If it was not obvious from looking at her, Sadie tends to act like a dragon. By this I mean she can lose her temper and likes to hoard things. Her room is filled with many plush dolls that she collects and cuddles.

Before entering the store, her feet felt a sharp pang underneath. She gazed down and found a green gem. Before picking it up, she looked around to see if anyone was looking for it.  Since it didn't look like it was owned by anybody, she put it in her pocket. It wasn't like a gem she had seen before and felt smooth to the touch. The gem had a light green coloring and looked a little faded, but overall still shiny. It appreared to be about the size of a pebble and had a round shape.

Today the store was filled with eggs, chicks and bunny designs for the Easter Bunny sale. Their newest plush was a limited stock green St. Patricks Day rabbit. She was hoping they would still have some in stock since the previous sale was over. Sadie walked over to the back right of the store where the previous season plushies are usually placed. To her luck she saw one green bun left. She immediately grabbed them and jumped for joy. Sadie carried the plush to the counter and the counter bun said that they were included in the present holiday sale. This would mean that the plush was sold for twenty-five percent off. Being a dragon bun must have its perks.

Walking out of the store, Sadie's stomach started to rumble. Guess she started to get hungry from her recent victory. Luckily for her, down a block was a famous cafe.

A maid greeted her. "Dinning inside or out today?".

Sadie looked inside the cafe. The wallpaper was green with a white lace design for the border. There were cute small tables and stained glass windows. They also seemed to have multiple potted plants in the room to make it feel more comfortable. "I would like to eat inside today please".

The maid walked her over near the front window and gave her a menu. "Would you like to try our new omlete or carrot cheese cake?".

Looking at the menu, Sadie saw many yummy desserts. The only question was, what to get for lunch.

" Both sound lovely. Could I get the omlet with ham and cheese?"

The maid returned her answer with a smile. "Of course, Master. Would you like a drink with that?"

Sadie browsed at the drinks. There on the top right listed all kinds of milkshakes. Just below it with stars beside it read, "Shamrock Shake for limited time only!!!".

"I would love a large shamrock shake please. Oh and with lots of whipped creme!!!".

The maid chcuckled at Sadie's order. "Coming right up sweetheart".

It didn't take long before the food was out and plated neatly. I would like to say Sadie took her time to enjoy the wonderful meal. However, Sadie is similar to a dragon and dragons tend to eat their food in big gulps. The food was eaten very quickly and almost shocked the maid upon her return. Luckily, the maid gained her composure by the time she came back after dropping off Sadie's dessert. Since Sadie had saved money on her plush, she had some left over to pay her bill and leave a nice tip. The maid was so thankful that she gave Sadie a cupcake for her to take home.

So far this had been the best day ever. Upon reflecting on her day, Sadie's thoughts went back to when she first picked up that gem. Now she has heard tales of magical gems, goblets and  other items. Yet she never pictured herself to find such a thing. From that day on she decided that her green gem would be her lucky item. So if the day went bad or she was worried on a trip, she would always pack that gem with her. Her friends keep joking that she should get the stone appraised and see if it is worth something. Sadie always told them no because the gem was worth more than money. The gem was protection. The gem was hope. The gem, was her lucky item.

Everyone has an item they consider will bring them luck if they have it or wear it on a certain day. This story is about how Sadie found her lucky items and why she thinks it is lucky in the first place.
