Focus Genevieve!

As if the Breeding Season couldn’t get any busier for Genevieve she had promised to make it back out to Dan’s shop before the month was over. She had some spare milkweed and Dan was going to teach her how to make mochi. She had a great time making dango with him so she was thankful to continue their lessons. 

She arrived at the quaint shop that read ‘Dan’s Dango’. She rapped the wooden door, but there was no response. Taking a moment she could hear a repetitious thud that sounded like it was coming from the back yard. 

Genevieve carefully made her way around the house, calling out so she didn’t startle whoever was working back here. “Dan, is that you?” Her voice, soft and sweet. The thudding stopped and Genevieve turned the corner and saw the large barrel chested man wiping the sweat from his brow. Her lashes fluttered taking in such a sight. 

“Hello there Genevieve,” Dan set down the weighty hammer, and dusted himself off a bit. “Had an order I was trying to get done before our lesson, but it seems you beat me to it. I’ll walk through what I am doing here, then I’ll let you try your hand at it. Sound good?”

Genevieve nodded and found a seat on a nearby log. She got a lesson and a show, seemed like a good deal to her. The nun bunny watched as Dan went to work pounding rice. She did her best to keep her drool in her mouth. Between the large man and the sticky rice Genevieve was having a great time.

 “Got all that?” He said as his large hands shaped the dough into bite sized pieces, using potato starch to keep it from sticking. 

Genevieve startled now that it was her turn. “I uh, yes I believe so…” She said, and then turned to riffle through her bag. She presented the sample of milkweed to Dan with her gloved hands. “Will this be enough for a milk mochi?”

Dan picked it up for inspection and gave a gentle but firm nod. “I’ll work on this, for your filling. You go pound seme fresh rice. I’ll come check if you are taking too long.” He began carefully extracting the milkweed and Genevieve toddled back off to the hammer and mortar.

She took off her gloves and rolled up her sleeves as she got serious about mochi making! Lined up there were several sizes of hammers. She took one of the smaller ones and took it over to the station. She opened the rice steamer and took several scoops and plopped it into the mortar. The steamy rice smelled soooo good but she had to focus.

“You start with kneading while it’s hot.” She repeated as she crouched before the bowl. Taking the hammer, she began to ground the sides of the mortar and mill the rice together until it started to form the sticky dough.

“Next you pound to get that wonderful stretchy texture.” Geneveieve coached herself, standing back up and readying the hammer. Thud. Thud. Thud. As she shaped the sticky dough with her mighty hammer. She was losing steam quicker than expected, kneading the rice took a lot out of her. 

“You are almost there, just a few more swings.” Dan’s words of encouragement startled her; she didn’t realize he had already joined her once again. He positioned himself right behind her and helped her raise her hammer. Genevieve would have simply passed away right then and there in this big strong man’s arms if not for him guiding her. His powerful swings, breathy grunts and warmth was truly sending this nun bunny.

“There we go…” She said taking the dough back to the counter to shape them, leaving Genevieve a trembling mess.

Once she was able to think straight she followed after him.

He had already gotten through the previous batch and most of the way through her’s. She copied his movements and together they finished up the order of milk mochi.

“Here you go…” He presented a simple box tied up in a pink and blue blue scarf for Genevieve to take with her. “Good work today, come back any time.”
