New imp friend for soft
Soft seldom left his house, especially for non-essential errands like buying new batteries for his malfunctioning TV remote. On this occasion, as he walked towards the supermarket, dragging his cute pillow while using his smaller bun form, a curious and different encounter awaited him. The street leading to his trusted store, closer to home, harbored an alley he seldom paid attention to—until now. Within that alley rested a small creature, adorned in black fur with bright white eyes, seemingly sleeping "peacefully" amidst a pile of discarded papers and ancient newspapers. It appeared to be a Plhoof, likely abandoned, given the tangled state of its fur. The winter chill added to the poignant scene, as the delicate creature shivered in its attempt to find solace in slumber.
Soft, renowned for his indolence even among Succubuns of his subtype, couldn't dismiss the sight. Observing the small imp, seemingly aware of his presence but making no effort to escape, tugged at Soft's heart. Despite his proclivity for laziness, Soft felt an unusual empathy for the creature that only sought uninterrupted sleep. He could almost see his own eyes mirrored in the abandoned imp, which merely tried to return to its dreams.
"Although, I doubt I can just approach and take it. It might try to bite me... or frighten it away," Soft pondered as he approached the imp even more sluggishly than his usual pace. Unperturbed by the grime on the ground or the peculiar scent of the alley, he lay down, placing his pillow beside the imp and patting it gently, signaling that it could rest there. To his astonishment, the creature understood his signals. Within moments, it nestled on a part of the pillow, leaving enough space for Soft to join. "I think we could get along, little one," murmured the drowsy Soft, lying down on the pillow with a fatigued yet content smile. Yes, he had grown weary from the mere walk of one street to the store, but that was his nature, unchangeable by anyone. Thus, he decided to ignore any strange glances from passing Succubuns and nestled with the imp to rest in the dark and somewhat chilly alley.
Hours passed, and both Soft and the imp woke up. The imp, seemingly as attached to Soft as Soft had become to it, had made the decision in his sleep to adopt the Plhoof as his pet. Soft, rising somewhat lazily, picked up his pillow, noticing how the imp remained on it as if it were an improvised carriage. "Found a way to move without walking already? Lucky you..." Soft chuckled at the imp's inherent laziness. Unfazed by the fate of his soon-to-be worn-out and dirty pillow, he dragged it along with the Plhoof through the streets.
Contemplating the responsibilities of pet ownership, Soft mused, "If I truly want to adopt you, I should buy you food, toys, and all those things imps need... oh, but the store is so far away." In reality, the store was only two streets away, but Soft's reluctance to walk extended even to such a short distance. Undeterred, Soft continued his journey, dragging the soft pillow with the Plhoof atop it. "But... I can't just not buy those for you, so it'll be a small sacrifice I’ll make for you... oh right, I haven't given you a name yet," Soft pondered as he contemplated naming his newfound companion. "Perhaps... I could give you something short, Ploof... plof... pof... Pom! Pom will be your name," thought Soft as he continued his journey. After what was essentially half an hour of slow walking to cover just two streets, they arrived at the store that sold supplies for imps, resembling a pet store. Soft spent a good amount of time there, searching for everything he believed his new pet might need. He paid special attention to the bed section, considering that the Plhoof would likely spend most of its time sleeping, mirroring Soft's own inclination. Standing in front of the aisle of beds, he observed options ranging from small to ridiculously large, resembling houses for the imp itself. "No... I can't afford something like that," Soft thought, somewhat disheartened. He sighed and looked at the little imp, lifting it carefully from its pillow. Soft noticed that it offered no resistance, almost as if the imp's fuzziness melted in his hands due to its limp nature.
Soft dedicated himself to placing the imp on each bed, searching for one that the imp seemed to like. He began losing hope as it appeared that the imp was reluctant to stay on any of them—until they reached a large, exceptionally cute pink bed made entirely of cotton and super furry. It seemed like the perfect spot for the small, fluffy Plhoof. Soft couldn't resist trying out the bed as well, even in his smaller Bun form, taking advantage of the fact that no one seemed to be watching. He laid down, realizing it was the perfect size for both him and the imp to rest together, melting his heart.
"Alright, we'll take this one," exclaimed Soft as he carefully lifted the imp from its pillow and carried the bed with his other paw. He set out to find a store attendant, intending to purchase food, toys, and perhaps other basic care items. This would suffice until he received his paycheck from work, as he currently didn't had that much money beyond the essentials.
Undoubtedly, the little Bun and the Plhoof had now become good friends, both equally lazy in their reluctance to walk or engage in activities beyond the necessary. As they reached Soft's home, the Plhoof received a thorough bath and grooming session with a special brush for its hair, along with a hearty imp meal. Most likely, both of them drifted back to sleep afterward because Soft had never exerted himself so much, and the Plhoof had never felt as comfortable as it did in that moment while being cared for by the peculiar Bun who seemed as tired as he was.
