Despite the neverending party, Jousah's guests usually knew better than to mess with any decor strewn about the complex. This was because Arrie spent her time meticulously detailing every party's theme with new decorative pieces. This time, a homemade handcrafted bouquet. The decorative porcelain vase stood tall at the center of the dining table, she had spent over an hour placing each flower into the vase one by one. A small group of lightly inebriated party goers were assisting where they could in pruning the flower stems for her artistry. She arranged a spiraling pattern wide around the neck of the vase creating a thick plumage of white and teal that seemed to lay in ribbons over one another.
A row of Clematis that Arrie had ordered special from a florist further out of town, shone as white as her own milky coat. Then a row of Hydrangeas that were grown by Hops. The gardening she did for Angora during the Hazebloom harvest wasn't her only time dabbling with the garden. Their bright teal petals reminded her of Jousah's fuzzy bangs. As the guests gradually trimmed the remaining stems down, Arrie looked at the large spot at the top of the arrangement. Bending down to the wicker basket that she had come home with just an hour earlier, she slowly lifted a massive orange Dahlia to fill the empty hole and complete her masterpiece. The flower, a shade akin to her more musically inclined roommate.
A voluminous and colourful bouquet lovingly arranged to fit both the lovely atmosphere that the season brought out, but also to show her love for two of her favourite people. The buns that had helped her were given the rest of the flowers leftover to give out to the rest of the party as they pleased. She stood back, admiring her work as it adorned the dining room table. She prided her decorations for the house parties. But this piece was for her.
"You never miss on the aesthetic stuff, do you mami." Arrie turned to see Jousah, hooves shoved into the pockets of his jacket, he'd been standing there for a minute. He was wearing a flower crown from the spare Clematis, one of her helpers must have made them. "I like the flower choices. Really encompasses us, y'know. Especially that one," He points to the dahlia at the bouquets peak. "He's chingón, el engreído." They laugh, only to hear a grunt at the door behind them.
"If you're gonna talk about me, at least make sure it's on a day I'm literally not running errands for you." Darlet slung the backpack full of bottles on a dining chair. Eyeing Jousah with a mocking sneer that he responded to with a flick of his tongue. Darlet looked at the vase sat in the center of the table, "I agree though. This looks really nice. Good job Ri." He put an arm on her shoulder. Jousah shrugged, joining in with a tentacle slid behind her waist.
Arrie took the chance to pull both in. "Thank you guys. I know we don't really get to spend a lot of time all together like we used to, but I love you so much." She turned to look at Jousah, blowing the hair from over his eyes. "You also gotta stop letting your guests sleep on the dinner table. I had to roll a man into Darlet's room before I could start arranging the flowers." Darlet whipped his head towards her, pressing his teeth together before composing himself and sighing. She giggled softly, nudging his side. "That was a joke. Well, the room part. Not the guy on the table."
A splintering crash could be heard somewhere at the other end of the apartment complex. Arrie let out an exhausted sigh. It would seem that the party's medic was needed once again. She held her nails to her temples, taking in a deep breath. "For the love of all that is sacred. Please. Please do not let anyone break this vase." Jousah and Darlet both nodded in understanding. "Good. That's why I love you two."
With that, Arrie waded through the crowd of drunken hooligans to find whatever made that sound.
Picking flowers that reminded Arrie of herself and her roommates, she arranges a nice centerpiece for their home. Let's just hope it's still there come tomorrow.
