Sick Day
Exie groaned in protest as he turned over to silence the ringing of his phone's alarm. The normal annoying sound had turned into a shrill, painful chirp that sent wave after way of discomfort shooting through his throbbing head. It was clear to him the night prior when he curled up in bed about 5 hours earlier than he would normally, feeling run down and not going out with friends upon being asked that this would be the morning he would have.
He sighed.
It was likely just a bad headcold or sinus infection. A day or two of rest, and he should be fine. But work wouldn't be happening today, and things would just have to go along at the snail's pace he expected to be living this morning. After taking a moment to brace himself, he decided to text his boss the following:
'Head hurt, maybe ded tomorrow and work no.'
Despite how strange a sentence, it was clear that, yes, Exie was sick.
Berri, his sweet as sin mamoo was nearby, looking up at him with an expectant gaze. It seems that he at leas understood by one look that his owner was under the weather. Of course, he'd have to get his corpse out of bed at some point soon in order to feed them both. Every now and then, he considered maybe getting a roommate or a long-term friend with benefits to help out with the little things. Not a partner though, he wouldn't survive the commitment.
Fortunately though, Berri understood today's pace and let himself be lifted up carefully and carried slowly into the apartment's kitchen and got breakfast going for the pair of them. While Berri was taking his time eating, eyes casted up twards Exie every now and again, Exie gathered himself whatever healthy fruit he could get and blended them into a shake before slumping onto the couch with a sniffle. His whole body just felt heavy and tired.
TV on, phone charging nearby, he decided today was the best day to curl up into a blanket burrito and simply relax. In fact, he knew his shitty little couch unfurled into a bed and opened it up just to lay down and be lazy. Berri got the hint, finding his own way nearby, then next to, then inside the Exie burrito.
Exie would take his time going through the options as best he could with the growing migrane before settling on a piss poor movie that he'd just decided to keep on in the background. With the last of the energy he had, he'd order some BuberEats, including medication, soup and anything else someone would need to enjoy the entirety of a sick day off.
Berri was content that Exie didn't leave for the day, cuddled up comfortable in his owner's arms. Once everything that 'needed' to be done for the day was done, Exie let a sigh leave his nose and simply allow himself to curl up and rest at last. And also gave Berri no less than 50 kisses on the top of his head for being such a good imp.
With the sounds of shitty acting in the background, Exie finally allowed himself to close his eyes and lull into another restful nap. While it might take a bit with how congested his nose was, it helped the pain in his head to just rest and relax until his order came an hour and a half later. Once he got the knock on his apartment door, he'd tiredly carry his burrito self and Berri to pick up all the godies at his doorstep nearby. Berri wasn't exactly thrilled to have his nap interruped, but quickly warmed up considering Exie would be eating a meal in such close proximity without being chided.
The movie had basically ended without any eyes watching it, so Exie simply changed it to a TV show that had been showing reruns for the majority of the day in order to enjoy a bowl of soup. He did have to heat it up, and put a small piece of bread he had to toast while the bowl heated up before curling back up on the pullout couch and remaining curled up as he ate his next meal. He just needed to eat something before taking medicine.
Needless to say, he was just going to remain curled up for the remainder of the day.
