Snowy Detour
Vee shivered as he stepped outside of his house, wanting to go down to The Rabbit Hole for a few glasses of Sinnamon Whiskey like he usually did after finishing a shift's worth of programming. He squinted and pulled his scarf closer to his face to hopefully ward off the cold a bit more effectively (though his other attire made this a fruitless effort anyways), before turning his head as he saw snowfall in this other direction. He contemplated his choices for a few chilly moments before his curiosity got the better of him and he instead went towards the snow.
He began to to grumble to himself as the air got colder the farther he went into the caves on the outskirts of the city, his tail wrapped tightly around his leg in order to try and stave off the cold seeping into his bones before finally stopping and staring up at the snow falling from the unseen ceiling. He shooed off the wisps of flames that followed him wherever he went, stretching out a hand towards the snow and staring at the snowflakes that slowly melted on it in wonder.
"...Holy shit, it's actually snowing..." Vee let out a yawn, it being rather early in the morning already, not to mention the fact he hadn't actually slept yet, but instead of heading back he took a few more steps forward, wanting to enjoy the rare event just a bit longer.
After a few steps, he tripped on a rock hidden by the snow, letting out a yelp as he went crashing into a forming snowbank. He scrambled to get out of it, cursing and shaking the rapidly melting snow out of his clothes as best he could.
"Cold, cold! Holy fuck that's cold!" Vee shook his head, trying to get the snow out of his hair before sniffling and letting out a sneeze. He then sniffled again before wrinkling his nose in displeasure at the wet feeling of his clothes, hugging himself tightly and shivering.
"...Snow sucks, I should've just gone to bed. I don't get what all the fuss is about. This is dumb." Vee grumbled to himself, kicking a rock before sneezing again. He then began to trudge home, glad it would be a short trek thanks to his house's close vicinity to the outskirts of the city.
After a couple of miserable and cold minutes trudging home, Vee turned around to get one last look at the falling snow, stopping in his tracks for a moment. From the angle he now had, the snow looked almost magical. The undisturbed blanket on the ground sparkled almost mesmerizingly with the crystals in the cave, the slowly falling flakes all glinting momentarily as the light caught them just right, making the whole scene look almost ethereal.
After watching it for a couple minutes, Vee shivered again and continued his journey home. He let out another sneeze followed by a quiet curse, huffing slightly as trudged through the thinning layer of snow back home.
"...The snow still fucking sucks."
