A Trip to the Imporium

When Banny was thinking of what imp to get for a pet, he was thinking more of a… Manly imp. A tough guyst that he had to earn the respect of or maybe an intimidating sceil that he could have curled around his neck to scare indebted buns. Ya know, something cool.

What he wasn’t expecting was a phloof. Banny’s white eyes looked down at the small fluff ball in the storekeeper’s hand. He slowly looked back up towards Hutch. The brown haired bun had a small smile on their face as they held the imp for Banny. Though, when they looked up at the taller bun they started to sweat nervously. Hutch was quick to explain their choice in imp. “T-These guys are great starter pets! Guysts and sceils have a lot of needs that make them a little too…” Hutch coughed into their fist as they tried not to insult Banny’s intelligence to his face, “difficult for first time novices.”

Banny’s mouth was in a fine line as he looked at Hutch. His brows were drawn in a tight downward line as he just stared at the brown haired bun. “So, you think someone like me is gonna be okay with an imp like that?” The man raised one of his brows a little as Hutch’s knees shook a little. “Most buns are smart enough to know not to try and piss me off. Like, I want something manly.” Banny growled a little as icy mist escaped the corner of his mouth.

Hutch had to swallow the lump of anxiety in his throat as he just held his ground on his choice of imp. “I-I’m sorry, but it wouldn’t be right to give you one of those imps yet.” The glasses wearing bun was certain their bones were jelly as he looked up at Banny. “L-Listen, I’ll give you a guyst AND a sceil b-but only after you’ve had this phloof for a while. That way you’re more p-prepared for them.” After stuttering through most of that, Hutch looked back up at Banny. The grey haired bun was clearly considering the arrangement. They would never live down the small yelp they made as Banny blew smoke out from their nose. It seemed like he had come to a decision on Hutch’s offer.

“Fine,” Banny huffed as he backed off Hutch “I’ll take the phloof and show you I’m a great caregiver.” Hutch’s body sagged with relief as they nearly fell to the ground. Their glasses were a bit skewed as they just carefully handed the phloof over to Banny.

“G-Great! That’s just g-great…” Hutch wasn’t too enthused with the idea of having to see Banny ever again, but… They were glad that the man didn’t try to force them to give him imps he wasn’t ready for. “I’m sure you’ll come to see that phloofs are amazing pets and can be great companions for buns with high tension jobs. Plus, w-when you’re ready for a guyst and sceil you’ll see that phloofs are good pets due to how easy they get along with other imps.” Hutch moved to start getting a starter kit ready for Banny.

Banny was only half listening to the other bun as he looked down at the small imp in his hands. The imp stared back up at Banny as it was nestled in the large bun’s hands. The phloof was extremely soft to the touch… Its fluffy fur was just extremely interesting to Banny as he just gently petted and ran his fingers through it. These actions seemed to make the imp happy as it gently trilled a little in response to the petting. The imp was nuzzling itself deeper into Banny’s hands; it enjoyed the bun’s actions and company. Banny smiled a little as he just gently held the imp close to him. Only stopping his petting when Hutch coughed a little to get his attention.

The bun had a gentle smile on their face as they held a basket with food, blankets, brush and collar. However, the fear returned as Banny gave Hutch a cold look at having been interrupted from petting his new imp. “H-Here you go. All the things you’ll need to take care of your new c-companion!” Hutch squeaked as Banny took the basket from them. “I hope y-you have a wonderful day…” Hutch was melting to the ground as Banny left. They were just grateful to have everything intact.
