Matentines, a time of giving gifts to and spending time with the ones you love. Whether they are friends, lovers, or family, it is a season to celebrate love in all of its flavors. And one way to do so was to give sweets to your loved ones, particularly chocolates. Honey kept his true inner circle small and intimate and had no qualms with showering them with affection no matter the time of the year, but this was special. This was Matentines and nothing less than sheer perfection from their chocolates would be allowed. Especially since this would be the first Matentines he’d share with Amour and celebrate in its full glory. Just thinking about it made a blush spread across his pale cheeks. The lovers had sat down one evening to discuss the mating season and had mutually decided to stay off suppressants and let whatever would happen, happen. Honey was well aware of what that meant and he squirmed a little where he sat on a kitchen stool glancing over chocolate recipes. Breeding…kids…they might be having a baby or two together! He muffled an excited squeal in his shawl and forced himself to calm down with a huff.

It was unbecoming to get so excited over something that might not even happen! He needed composure and the utmost focus to complete his task of the day: to create the perfect handmade chocolates for Amour. He’d already made everyone else’s and it was time to devote his skills to perfecting Amour’s. Honey knew he liked dark chocolates, preferably with something sweet to undercut the bitterness. Not too far from Honey’s own preference when eating it really. The only question was how to handle it? Maybe dipping some strawberries in melted dark chocolate? Or making some chocolate hearts with candied cherries inside? He had a recipe for making candied cherries he’d gotten from Maple he had yet to try out. Maybe now was the perfect time? And…he had one gift that was prepared already for Amour but it could wait until later. Now was all about the chocolates! Maybe, instead of limiting himself to one type, he could make both cherry filled chocolate hearts and dipped strawberries! And whatever chocolate he had left over he could pour into molds to make plain dark chocolate hearts?

With a plan formed, Honey eagerly started prepping his kitchen, taking out his ingredients and everything he would need for his endeavors. He’d never made chocolates this fancy before but damn it, he was going to give it his all for Amour!

First, Honey focused his attention on the candied cherries. They would be the most difficult and time consuming part so he started with them. It took a few tries before he got them just how he wanted them, then he made a full batch of the sweet, gooey fruit. Next was the actual dark chocolate. Melting it down to the right consistency was easy, but dipping the strawberries and making sure the coating came out neat and even was a lot harder than he’d been expecting. Still, Honey managed and set the strawberries in the fridge to cool. Preparing the ones with candied cherries inside were next and they were surprisingly easier, no doubt because of the molds he was using. Honey was able to make a bunch of them before he ran out of candied cherries and switched to just filling the heart molds with dark chocolate. Soon, he even finished those and popped them in the freezer to cool. It took little time to clean everything up, leaving Honey to wait with baited breath and anticipation that felt like it was eating him alive. Soon, everything would be ready and he could give it to Amour. Oh he just really hoped he liked it!

Since there was nothing to do but wait on everything to cool, Honey decided to go change from his comfy clothes to something a little cuter. A little more appropriate for delivering chocolates to a lover. He threw open his closet with a grin and started rummaging about for something just right. Pink and red may be the colors of the season but Amour was fond of him in whatever colors he liked, especially his favorite light blues. So Honey focused on his own favorite color, digging about for something he knew would make Amour feel he was extra cute. Honey ended up settling on an oversized, light blue sweater with a pair of white shorts underneath and matching light blue platform heels with bows on them. Honey even replaced his typical plain light blue ribbons with ones with new blue ones with white lace on them. For makeup, he chose a softer look, one of nudes and soft pinks to really give himself that sweet look he knew made Amour dote on him more. With time to spare, he ended up working on some new jewelry pieces he wanted to sell for the season. Honey giggled and grabbed a white cardigan to complete the look and went to check on his chocolates as the timer went off. It was time! It was time!

Honey giddily took the chocolates out and tested them to ensure they were hard and ready. Once satisfied, he carefully placed them in the heart shaped box he’d bought just for the occasion and practically skipped from his house in excitement. His next stop? Amour’s clinic! Oh how he hoped he would like his chocolates!

Amour isn't going to let go of Honey the moment he sets foot in his office and spends the rest of the day spoiling him with hugs, kisses, and sharing treats with him ♡
