Matentines day
Matentines. What did you get someone for Matentines? Julian had never bought anyone a gift for it before. It wasn’t that he’d never had a partner, it’s just that he was more of a wham bam thank you ma'am kind of guy, but this was different… He'd actually found himself wanting to spend time with Ersa.
Flowers? Hell no. He could get pollen on him or sneeze and no one was attractive with allergies. What was the next best thing? CHOCOLATES!
He wasn’t that far from a place he knew which had a decent reputation. Julian wasn’t necessarily a chocolate guy, so he’d never actually been, but how bad could it be? It was a pretty little place, made of red brick with dark accents. Ebony wood around the large pane windows that displayed overly decorated bonbons and truffles. So chocolates it was!
–
The place was a little busier than he would have liked, but he expected that. Julian stared at the many other buns buying chocolates for their mates (or in one case, a bun with a mohawk sniffling to a staff member about having eaten the bonbons himself and needing a repeat order) with a sigh. At least he’d have some time to try and look at the delicacies filling the store.
As he was looking around it occurred to him that he didn’t actually know Ersa’a favourite type of chocolates. He muttered a “fuck” before deciding all was not lost. He’d simply ask the staff member to make an assortment of the popular flavours. He was rather pleased with himself. Gosh he was a smart, handsome bun wasn’t he?
“Could I just get a 20 piece assortment of your popular flavours please?”
“Of course!” The cheery staff member replied with a wide smile that Julian did not trust. “But we have many popular varieties! Almond truffle, bananas foster, dulce de leche, firecracker truffle, framboise…. “
What the hell was a firecracker truffle?
“hazelnut latte, honey truffle, mocha…”
Julian grew somewhat bored of what was being said to him, humming in acknowledgement as his head turned towards the shop window. Oh! Who was that good looking creature? Wait! It was him! Ha ha! Still, Julian decided to double check his reflection for the fifteenth, maybe sixteenth time since leaving his home, despite knowing he looked good. Hell, he always looked good.
He turned back and startled slightly when he realised he was being stared at, the server waiting for, well something…
“The first 10 truffles and the last 10 bonbons you mentioned, uh please?”
“...uh, right. Okay.” They seemed confused, their smile wavering a little but they picked up a box and started whizzing around the shop with practised ease. He guessed he wasn’t the only one who zoned out.
Slowly his attention inevitably turned back to the window. After a minute or so of admiring his bad self, he finally turned his attention back to the Chocolatier, (once again jumping when he noticed her staring)who had been (not so) patiently waiting for Julian’s attention. On the counter sat a beautiful box filled with a mix of bonbons and truffles. He wasn’t sure when the ribbon had been tied around it but it was cute and Julian was pretty sure Ersa would like it. If not, well, this wasn’t the real dessert anyway. He paid and got the heck out of there, more than ready to be doing much more fun things with Ersa.
-
Julian knocked on the now familiar door, then pushed it open announcing who it was as he entered Ersa’s home. It was strange just how comfortable he’d found himself in Ersa’s space, how quickly he had grown accustomed to the clutter and mountain of knick knacks on every shelf.
He knew exactly where the other would be even without him answering. He’d almost bet his life on it. Ersa would be lazing on the sofa, watching some terrible TV show he was invested in.
Entering the living room, Julian couldn’t help but smile, shaking his head fondly at the other. Sure enough, Ersa was laid on the sofa, watching a show that, oh! Julian actually recognised this one, he’d never admit that though. What he hadn’t been expecting was for him to be wearing one of his shirts, something that no one else (past or future), would have gotten away with.
Julian sat on the small bit of space Ersa made for him, his lap used as a pillow instantly. “I got you something.” He said as his pet Ersa’s gorgeous hair, handing over the box he’d held in his other hand. “Happy, uh, Matentines day, or whatever.” He shrugged, like it was no big deal at all.
He watched as Ersa's ears perked and those cherry eyes widened. The smaller bun wiggled himself to sit more up right before accepting the box. "Aw, Julian." He practically purred, making Julian grin. "You're just trying to butter me up into another round, aren'tcha?"
"Maybe," Julian hummed back, carefully watching his mate's reaction to the box of treats. Ersa didn't disappoint, either. He practically squealed in delight at the sight of the decadent spread. "Well, it's working." Ersa said brightly, biting one of the truffles in half before offering the second half out in those dainty fingers. Julian couldn’t resist, lowering his head slightly to take the chocolate with his mouth, sucking on his fingers as he did.
Yeah. This was going to be a damn good Matentines day
