[blind date] dallas and rhyder

Rhyder nervously made his way to the park, a small bouquet of carnation flowers in hand. He stopped outside the gate to the park and took a deep breath to calm his nerves as he flicked his tail in thought, he sure hoped this would turn out well. It had been a while since he'd really gone out and met people, not since he'd taken up that job with the Freign. He'd signed up for this whole date thing on a whim since it seemed like fun, though now he was starting to get cold feet about it. Either way, he couldn't leave the other bun waiting so with much anxiety, he entered the park in search of whoever it was he was suppose to meet. He wasn't exactly given a name or description afterall…

Dallas stopped at the entrance of the park, gazing up at the sign arc and sighing, oh boy, this was going to be a disaster. It was the first time he had ever went out on a date, at least on an official one. The last time he had some sort of date was with that succubun that he had hired to take care of the Freign with him. He wished he could see him again, instead of going on this church assigned dating program, but alas, he never got his number.

He inhaled deeply, clutching the box of chocolates he had in his hand, and made his way into the park. He passed by some already formed couples, but had yet to see anyone who looked like they were alone and looking for someone, until he stumbled upon...him.

"Rhyder??? Is that you??"

Rhyder blinked, looking up at him, "Dallas?? what are you doin' all the way out here?" Dallas didn't seem to travel to the city much so it was strange to see him here. Judging by the chocolates in hand, he assumed he was also here for the dating program. "You get roped into that blind datin' thing too? I'm still waitin' out here for someone if you wanna wait too, if you wanna chat?" He offered and patted the empty spot on the bench next to him, still not putting two and two together.

"O-Oh, er, yeah, sure." Dallas blinked, beginning to blush as he moved closer to him. Was he really paired up with Rhyder, who he had spent a couple months with wrangling Freign up in the mountains? No, it couldn't be. This was just a coincidence that they were both here. He went and sat down beside him, setting the chocolates down, "Yeah, I wanted to see how this datin' program went to see if it was worth a damn, but I haven't gone on a date ever, admittedly…"

"If it makes you feel any better, I ain't really been on an official date ever.... Er, maybe blind datin' wasn't such a good idea... Now I'm startin' to worry even if they do show up it won't go so well..." He let out a heavy sigh and slouched on the bench. "They tell you who you're meetin'? All I got was this dang lousy ticket," He sat back to pull the informational ticket out of his jacket. "Said somethin' about it's supposed to match, I don't know I wasn't really listenin' much towards the end…"

"I feel th' same way, I don't feel like my date's gonna do any better, if it makes ya feel any better about yer date..." Dexter rummaged through his coat pocket, finding the ticket he was given, though it was a bit waded up. He had simply forgotten about it until the day of, so it had been through multiple washes in his coat pocket. "They didn't give me one bit of info about who I was supposed t' meet. I got a ticket too, I wasn't listenin' much either. What's yers say?"

"Don't know, I think it's just numbers. Here lemme see yers for a sec," He took Dallas' ticket and held it up next to his own just out of curiosity to see if anything between the two of them was a match. Surely not, he told himself, that'd be an insane coincidence... And yet the two tickets he was holding up in his hands were identical. "... Huh, well would'ya look at that...."

Dexter's face immediately erupted into a bright red, and he let out a small peep, "Oh..."

How could this be? There was no possible way their tickets matched, they had to have gotten mixed up with someone elses, and yet, here they were. The idea of being paired up with Rhyder immediately grew on Dallas, which caused him to become even more flustered as he offered up the chocolates, "...W-Well...'ere ya go?"

Rhyder blushed and awkwardly took the chocolates from him, muttering a thanks. He was quiet for a bit before opening the box and offering some to Dallas, "Want some? O-oh, right. This is also for ya..." He offered him the bouquet of carnations as well. Normally he was perfectly fine spending time with Dallas, but with the context that this was an official date now he was being all weird and nervous about things.

Dexter thanked him quietly, taking and smelling the flowers. They smelled wonderful, and were so beautiful...Rhyder must've had them specially picked out.

"Oh, u-um, sure..." He took one of the chocolates, munching on it. He wasn't a big sweets person, but had to admit these were quite delicious. He picked out the best he could find, after all.

Now that this was officially a date Rhyder felt like he had to be super formal about it. What did buns do on dates anyway? Have dinner together? Get intimate? He blushed a little at the thought of that, he wasn't against it of course but they didn't need an entire date just to do that... "Er, what did you have in mind Dallas? For you know, datin' and all that." He hoped Dallas had come here with a plan in mind and wasn't just winging it like Rhyder was.

Dallas blinked, then looked around nervously. He had no idea of what to do, besides one thing he had been dying to do ever since they had parted ways from their job. He gently laid the flowers to the side, then lifted his hand to the side of Rhyder's face. His hands were clammy and warm, shaky as well.

"...Er, well, somethin' I've been plannin' for a long time..." He whispered, then went in for a kiss.

Rhyder blushed hard, but shut his eyes and leaned in to the kiss, reaching up his hands to gently cup Dallas' face in return. He hasn't been expecting Dallas to cut straight to the point, but he didn't mind it. Suppose they were just picking up where they'd left off.

Dallas continued the kiss for a long while, he had longed for this moment for a long time, that time only being around a month since he last saw him. Regardless, he made sure to enjoy this first kiss they shared.

He eventually parted the kiss, breathing a little heavily, "...Wanna...go somewhere more private? So we can catch up?" He reached his hand up and gently held Rhyder's, rubbing his palm with his thumb.

Rhyder smiled and nodded, breathlessly chuckling a bit, "Yeah, that sounds good to me, partner..." He flicked his tail a bit, moving it over to wrap around Dallas'.

Dallas took one of the chocolates and pressed it against Rhyder's lips, "Don't get any funny ideas now, I just wanna talk...and then maybe we can get down and dirty with it~"

His tail twitched and shimmied a little in Rhyder's tail, a feeling he had yet to experience before. He greatly enjoyed how tight it felt.

Rhyder took a nibble from the chocolate, "O' course, I aint thinkin' anythin' funny. No funny business here," He crossed his arms playfully and smirked.

"Hmph. Yeah, right." Dallas just rolled his eyes and stood up, eating the rest of the chocolate Rhyder took a bite out of while picking up the flowers, "You better not spill my chocolates now, those things were 'spensive."

Rhyder nodded and closed the box, hopping up to his feet. "Course not, I ain't *that* clumsy." Well, hopefully he wasn't.

"I know I know, I kid." Dallas smiled as he took up his hand and went off out of the park. They spent the rest of the day catching up and spending much needed time together after their brief stint apart. After their date, they made sure to have even more dates with one another. They went on dinner dates, cafe dates, hung out at Dallas' house, all sorts of dates. Who knew that the church would set them up with one another, and who knew that it would cause them to become closer than ever before? Rhyder sure didn't regret signing up for that dating service, and surely Dallas didn't either.
