Tea for Two
"How are you adjusting to life here?"
Mocha crossed his legs gingerly, feeling a bit more exposed than normal in the presence of a divine beauty like Dove. The pair had run into one another by chance, and got to chatting with one another until an invite for tea came up. The greenhouse gardens of the Heavenly Embassy were a far cry from the brimstone laced city streets.
The pair sat on pure white garden chairs, with an assortment of finger foods - and no, not that kind of fingering - being one of many things that divided the pair. It was obvious that Mocha was a little more than uncomfortable by the holiness that dripped from the whole ordeal. Although not in a way that was unwelcomed. Just strange, new, and uncomfortable.
"It's going well!" The cherrubun chirped more than enthusiastically, picking a macaroon off the tiered tray. "I appreciate you taking me up on my offer for tea."
"Of course," Mocha awkwardly responded, looking at the variety of sanwiches and goodies that lay before them, tempting them. What was it that was keeping a succubun from indulging? Probably just the pure awkwardness of the situation. "It's not every day you run into a cherrubun in the city."
"Hopefully, with more joining us here, it will become a more normal thing to experience daily." Every move Dove made was exceptionally beautiful and effortless. The way he munched into his macaroon, to how gingerly he picked up teacup to take a sip. Not even a slurp could be heard, the angelic bastard. "Wouldn't it be wonderful to see both of our kind mingling together?"
Mocha bites his lips, shifting in his spot awkwardly. Would it really be so? Not that he would mind being able to see the possibility of it, but would there really be such a harmonious world where horny, gluttonous sinners and chaste, holy powers could mingle with little to no issue? It feels as though there are already enough issues as is.
"I personally would love to see it happen."
It was the truth, even with the doubts swarming his mind.
He slowly takes a drink, feeling as if he elegance that Dove showed in every movement was mirrored back with awkward, gracelessness. The pair couldn't be miles apart in how different they were, and surely Mocha wouldn't be the only one with these feelings and doubts.
"But?" Dove chirped in his gentle voice, putting down his cup with a light clink against the tea plate. It was written on his face - he understood the doubts that were plaguing Mocha's mind. Perhaps even he had his own doubts about how things would eventually go. "You don't think it will work, do you?"
"It's not that I don't think it's possibly. I feel as if it is something that can be achieved, but only if Burrowgatory decides to accept our new guests." He learned his cheek into his palm, a gentle sigh flaring from him nose. "I would truly love to learn more about the cherrubuns who wish to share the space here. But with such a mixture of sinners giving more than enough strife on a day-to-day already, I just worry."
The two sat in a heavy silence for a moment. Neither felt comfortable taking a drink, or picking up another sandwich to nibble on. But the silence would be filled with the gentle, bell-like laughter that sounded from Dove. Mocha gave him a questioning look, which was met with more laughter by the other.
"Apologies, Mocha. I think it's very kind for you to think about how we might fit in into our new home with you. In fact, I think it's sweet that you're worried about us." Slowly, he'd bring his cup back up to his lips for another sip. Let Mocha sit there bewildered and confused more than ever. "You're speaking from your mind, and I appreciate the thought. But I'm curious on how you feel about it."
"How I feel...?" Mocha questions softly. They take their time thinking about the answer as if it were something more complicated than a 'good' or 'bad'. The rest of his tea would be downed in this time, the warmth of Dove's special blend helping give a moment of clarity over his feelings on the idea itself. "I feel like it would be fun to see what would happen. Burrowgatory can be...daunting to navigate, even for those of us who live here. It'd be really interestering to see how we might be able to connect, or what issues may come up."
"Still a bit logical, but I appreciate the viewpoint regardless." Dove stood up, picking up his beautifully designed teapot to fill up their cups to the brim once more. "While I may be getting more comfortable, it's still nerve-wracking to learn how to navigate a new life, I think we'lll be fine with kind buns like you and Jackel leading us."
Mocha smiled gently, brushing his fingers gingerly over the rim of his teacup. Perhaps their barrier hadn't been lowered entirely, but the warmth of the conversation that continued atferwards showed that things can and would be alright.
