For a Demon or for Imps?

Rosamel enjoyed working in the kitchen. It was her happy space. She was humming as she worked. She enjoyed the process of making mochi immensely. Her biggest problem was keeping her three imps from devouring the sweets.

After the first time stopping them, her strudel, Lady Eglantine, did give up and go lay in one of the many imp beds around the house. Lord Carduus and Mattheo, her phantomile and bearly, on the other hand, were relentless. They tried to sneak onto the counter whenever their owner turned her head.

She was quick to catch them and put them back on the floor each time, watching the two intently as she washed her hands. She was determined to set out mochi for Allocer. She was quickly back to work, and her imps were quickly back to watching for the next opportunity.

She worked the mochigome carefully. It was a bit awkward compared to when she had been working in Dan’s shop, but she did manage. The rice slowly formed a dough that she could work with her hands.

It was at this point that Mattheo bravely climbed on the counter again. He stuck one of his limbs towards the dough and Rosamel immediately grabbed the bearly. She put him on the floor again. When she turned to wash her hands, she spotted Lord Carduus trying his best to get some of the dough.

Once she had both her imps on the floor again, she washed and dried her hands. She then went back to making the mochi. She was laughing a bit at the pure determination her imps were showing, and she was glad it was only the two and not all three. She set about her work, adding in flavor to the mochigome.

After a little bit longer, she began to shape the mochi. She knew she made more than necessary, but with how her companions have been acting today, it would be well worth it. She was methodical, making sure each piece was as close to the same size as possible.

The pile of mochi grew slowly. This caught the attention of Lord Carduus and Mattheo again. They quietly moved close to the counter. The two imps were not going to let Rosamel tell them no to such a tasty treat. The phantomile helped the bearly onto the counter this time. Before the imp could grab any mochi, there was a cutting board in his way, like it was a wall.

Rosamel looked at her pets and shook her head. She carefully put Mattheo back on the floor. She was done making the mochi. She grabbed the dirty dishes and washed them. As she cleaned, she kept an eye on her imps, who looked at her with pouting eyes.

After she finished cleaning up, she took a few pieces of mochi and set them out for Allocer. She then came back to the kitchen. She stored most of the leftovers for some friends that mentioned they would visit today. She kept two pieces out. She cut these pieces in halves.

She walked over to Lady Eglantine and handed her one of the now four pieces. She then turned and handed Lord Carduus a piece before giving Mattheo a piece. She put the last piece in her own mouth, humming softly at the taste of delicious mochi.

She sat on the couch and her imps hopped up to her. Lady Eglantine immediately curled up on her lap. Mattheo leaned into her side with Lord Carduus in front of him. She pet all three for a moment, a soft smile on her face. They may cause her some trouble, but she alway loved her imps.
