Fashion Coordinator

“What do you think of fleece?” Peter takes a roll of fabric off his shelf, holding it out to Jae-eun. Pinching it between her fingers, she frowns.

“Fleece?” She asks, uncertain.

“It’d make a warm jacket,” Peter continues, nodding towards the large fluffy coat hanging over her shoulders. Indicating towards a row of fleece rolls, he smiles. “We’ve got lots of different colours. Might be good for something more casual?”

“Have you got any examples of what that might look like?” Jae-eun asks. She likes the feel of the fleece. It’s ever so soft. 

“Hm, yes, I actually do!” Peter leads her to another area. A wardrobe of sorts. He pulls out a couple of finished pieces and dresses a mannequin nearby. He zips up a fleece jacket, pairing it with a pleated skirt. Jae-eun frowns.

“I think I’m a bit more mature than that.”

“Oh, you’re never too mature for this sort of style!” Peter laughs, but obliges and changes the skirt. He picks a more full length skirt, loose and free flowing. Sweeping against the ground, the skirt is so long that Jae-eun laughs, putting a hand on Peter’s shoulder.

“Now perhaps that’s too mature.”

“It’s not mature, just vintage,” Peter replies with a wink.

“Like a fine wine,” Jae-eun quips. They both laugh.

“Perhaps we need to find the right type of wine. Chardonnay chic!” Peter takes off the skirt, searching his wardrobe. “A fleece coat, hmm… Maybe some corduroy trousers?”

“Trousers?” Jae-eun isn’t so sure about that. But Peter pulls out a pair he previously tailored, affixing them to the mannequin. 

“Of course, we need the perfect top.”

Jae-eun bites back the urge to make a sarcastic quip but Peter meets her eye. He laughs first, and it sets her off. Oh dear. 

In the end Peter pulls out this lovely frilly blouse, and pairs it with the other garments. After a moment of searching through the wardrobe, Jae-eun’s eyes flick towards a pair of high heels. She takes them, pairing them with the ensemble. 

“I like it,” she comments. “Not so much the colours, but…”
“Well, I can make you a bespoke fit,” Peter says, indicating towards the outfit. “But this sort of style…?”

“I like that,” Jae-eun decides.

“Then, that’s settled!” Peter smiles. After a moment of thinking, he takes a nearby jewellery box and drapes necklaces over the top of the mannequin. Looking at Jae-eun for approval, he holds another couple out.

“What looks good to you?”

Deliberating over them, Jae-eun selects a dainty silver chain. Peter nods, putting away the other necklaces.

“You could pair this with some dangly earrings to really add an eye-catching feature,” he says, peering into his jewellery box.

“Well, let’s see how the outfit turns out first,” Jae-eun replies.

Looking back at the outfit, she can’t quite decide if she really loves it or not. She likes it, but…

“How about trying it on?” Peter suggests. “I know it’s not your colour, but we could try out the fit and the style…?” 

“Good idea.” 

Undressing the mannequin, Peter folds up the clothes. He holds them out to Jae-eun and leads her to a changing room, where he closes the curtain with a flourish, leaving her to change in private. 

Hanging up her coat, she removes her dress and puts it on a plush hanger. Taking a moment to admire her reflection, Jae-eun poses in front of the mirror. She takes hold of the blouse that Peter picked out for her. Linen. Not her usual choice of fabric. She might have to say this to him, but she tries it on anyway. It’s not her exact size, but he’ll take measurements afterwards. Linen, corduroy and fleece. Interesting mix. Dressing herself in his selection of garments, she looks at the mirror again. 

The style is just right. They’re a lovely selection of clothes. However, she’s not a fan of the fabric choices. Turning around, she opens the curtain to see Peter waiting for her, holding out the high heels she chose earlier. He takes her hand and helps her step into them, standing back to admire her. She stands on a raised platform in the changing room, modelling the outfit for him.

“I’ll take the measurements in just a tick,” he says, looking at her admiringly. She turns around, brushing her hair to the side. “What do you think?”

“Well, I like the pieces,” Jae-eun says, turning her head to look at her own reflection. “This blouse is lovely. I like the frills. I’m not sure about the linen.”

“Ah, I thought as much. But the shape?”

“Yes, I like that.” Jae-eun notices that he writes it down in a notebook. “I feel like the fabrics are clashing.”

“I see.” Peter thinks for a moment. “Then, how about swapping the corduroys for linen trousers?”

“That would be nice.” Jae-eun envisions it. “And the blouse?”

“Hm, leave that one with me.” Peter smiles. He approaches with his measuring tape. “Now, let me take your measurements so I can make the perfect fit! Let me know what colours you’d like as well.”

“What do you think of a turquoise blouse?” 

“A statement!” Peter laughs. “Just the right amount of maturity for a mature lady.”

“Hey, enough of the mature lady!” Jae-eun waggles her finger at him, but laughs with him. 

Peter stretches the measuring tape around her, taking her measurements. Jae-eun trusts his vision. She’s sure he’ll make the perfect outfit for her.
