[Gift] freign spotting - w/ Lavet !
A cold breeze sweeps through the fur of a gentle succubun, making him shiver intensely. The pink fur shakes, and tries to brush out the cold he's so desperately not used to.
It had been warned that the edges of the city had been getting snow dustings, but Lavet wasn't prepared for what that felt like. Sure, everyone said snow was cold, but the chilled air and whipping wind made it so much more intense. He sat down next to a tree, trying to hide a bit from the wind for now.
After such cold, he almost held regret coming out here, on a whim of finding a certain wild imp. Lavet isn't too sure this imp will appear at all, though it would be quite the bragging right if so.
A few guys were already bragging about taming one at a local bar, very proud of now having such an alluring creature as a pet of sorts. The freign, they called it, a "deer-like" creature - whatever that means.
Seeing as the season when they come out is dwindling though, Lavet figured he should try to find one for himself before he has to wait a whole year again. Surely he'll find one, he didn't have enough patience to wait a whole year!
Lavet shivers slightly, trying to focus on the task at hand before he gets too tired to head back home. If he can find some tracks, that should lead him to the creature, that's what he overheard from that guy before.
Getting up again, the wind rushed back onto him. It was hard to move forward with wind that hit so roughly, he almost wanted to continue sitting in the tree's shelter. But he decided to continue onward, scanning the snow for as far as he could see.
It seemed there were different patches where snow never touched yet, though they might be covered up soon. The snowfall was sporadic and minimal, now being one of the moments it did decide to fall. But from certain angles, it never managed to cover everything. From the angle of some trees, or brush even, there were still bits of grass - none of which held tracks either.
Though frankly the lack of tracks on any grassy patches might have been purely from frosted flora. If the succubun had to guess, the grass and small plants upon the ground could have hardened, and not cushioned steps enough to leave tracks of any kind. It rather held it's own under any weight of a creature, he guessed.
Though not too soon after wandering around looking for hoofprints, the bun managed to find something. It was small, as if a tiny foot stepped into the snow with a long, lanky leg. The snow was pressed down fairly far, and into the pattern of a tiny hoof at the very bottom.
Perhaps this is what he was looking for? Lavet didn't know such a creature who was so lanky, it had to be a strange imp of some kind. Even if it wasn't a Freign, it may be a similarly cold-attracted imp, at least he hypothesized so.
Staring at the print further, he tried to picture what shape the creature was that left it behind. It seemed there was an even and steady path of two by two, that continued onward. So it was most likely something that walked on four legs, he remembered how similar his own hooves looked running on all fours to get to a place quickly. And surely any snow falling atop this track would simply cover it, not leave an imprint so tall.
Perhaps it's closeby, or had been here recently?
Following the trail of prints, it led to various odd spots that puzzled the bun. The first one being a tree that the prints seemingly just.. stopped at the base of. But then more were left beyond the tree, as if the creature magically appeared somewhere else, a few feet away.
The second was an indented round patch upon the base of a tree, some distance from the last oddity. This one though, could easily be another bun - or perhaps the freign took a nap itself?
Walking further along the trail left behind, a rustle came from up ahead. It was a small thing, pitch black just like an imp - though the shape of the thing was vastly different. It had horns of it's own, and lanky legs as well. Compared to himself, the creature didn't look too tall, but he supposed the lowset body of a succubun made all the difference when walking along a snowy path.
Lavet cautiously waddled over to the creature, slow at first to not startle it. Though it nervously hopped around regardless, even bounding itself off of a tree, and landing several feet away. That must have been what the oddity before was, simply a performance trick of sorts that this creature could do when running away.
The bun slowed down even further, trying his best to every so gently approach. He even leaned down, trying to see if the height difference had startled the poor thing. Eventually, it even started walking towards Lavet as well - the two of them just barely almost meeting.
But sadly for Lavet, he stumbled a bit, and fell face first into a pile of snow.
Surely, the creature would have run off from such a ruckus, he figured. But after laying in the pile of unaccomplishment for a moment, he felt a small poke of sorts atop his head.
He raised it slowly, coming face to face with the little imp. It stared for a while, and Lavet stared back, before it nuzzled atop the bun's head once again.
Lavet decided to try and sit up a little, and once he did, the small creature practically crawled in his lap. Perhaps it was the sheer cold, and it had wanted a warm spot to lay on. Or perhaps the bun embarrassing himself was enough to ear the imp's trust.
Though whatever the reason, the two sat there for a while.
It wasn't until Lavet was sure he had caught a cold by this point, that he tried to wander back home. All the while, the new companion trailed behind. He made sure to check too, to make sure the thing was actually still following him back this whole way - and it was.
Once they both made it out of the edges of the city, and the imp was still focused on following the bun, Lavet practically beamed with pride! He actually got one, of his very own!
