Mochi really are so sweet

Fuyuko had been by Dan's Dango again to visit Shibani for some questions and she had ended up fast asleep in his comfortable and fluffy pillow pile. When Dan had gone to check on the white sloth he had sighed at sight of several additional buns and dolls especially the starry doll by name of Fuyuko who had ended up curling against Shibani's torso. Shaking his head, he returned to his mortar and sticky rice dough. It still wasn't pounded to his precise satisfaction and he had several flavours planned out for the day. Picking up the heavy mallet and with a grunt; the prideful doll resumed pounding away at the sticky rice dough and soon melted into a consistent relaxing rhythm.

 

It was not long after his check in did Fuyuko crack open her eyes blearily and start to stretch her limbs out while carefully extracting herself from Shibani's grip. The petite prideful starry doll began to climb out of the luxurious pillow pile and went to pick her hat up only to smile softly at the adorable sight of her albino harpup resting within the folds.

"Silly Blop" she giggled as she picked the little imp up before situating the large hat on her head. Her ears perked up at sounds of something slamming into something. Pounding? She followed the sounds to the sight of Dan lifting the heavy mallet upwards and over his shoulder into the mortar. Then Fuyuko noticed a tray set aside with various flavours. It was then obvious to her that the prideful gray blue doll wanted to prepare flavoured mochi but lacked the mochi needed. Blop plopped around in her arms as Fuyuko inched closer to eye the quantity in the mortar. Wow that was so much!

A glare from Dan had her swiftly scurrying off to safe distance so she could watch him do his hard working magic on his delicious sweets. However she had noticed that whenever customers came to make purchases, Dan would sigh and put down his mallet so she quickly jumped onto registers to take over the duty so the prideful male doll could work on his mochi dough while she cheerily handled the payments and selling the delicious dango. If she helped herself to a delicious dango or two, Dan didn't remark as she was doing him a big favor by handling the customers so he could focus on pounding the sticky mochi dough. When the stream of customers had actually quietened down, Fuyuko turned toward Dan who was pulling the dough out of mortar and onto the table near the flavouring platter that had been set out earlier.

 

She watched as he took out the vanilla beans, carefully split them with a small yet sharp knife then scrapped the contents from them. They were then mixed thoroughly into a small batch Dan had pulled out from the large dough. They were then split into smaller balls and rolled into mochis before getting set aside.

Dan then removed another batch from the dough and sprinkled matcha powder into it to be mixed in. The dough quickly turned pale green and were split into pieces to be rolled into mochis. Another batch were cut away, split and rolled into mochis before being covered by sesame powder.

 

Dan soon roped Fuyuko into helping him prepare the mochis and very firmly told her NOT to snack on anything until they were done much to her sulking but she agreed.

A batch was cut away and into pieces. Fuyuko carefully followed Dan's example as she stuffed the dough with red bean paste before rolling into mochi. Two more batches were stuffed with strawberry jam and mango jam respectively before Fuyuko managed to convince the grumpy prideful bun to do chocolate and peanut butter stuffed mochis. Dan eventually agreed after making one to pop into his mouth. They were actually tasty!

 

Fuyuko was once again successful in convincing him to pair peanut butter with several jams by reasoning that if they were delicious together in any form then they should be just as good as mochis. Eventually there were several variations with combinations across the table and the large dough had been all used up. 

 

"Whew, I'm tired now"

"Already?!" Dan grumbled as Fuyuko burst into a fit of giggles

"Don't worry I'll go home after this!"

"Good. Thank you for helping with customers and preparing those. Please take those" Dan gave her a box with one of every flavour Fuyuko had helped prepare. The starry prideful doll immediately popped the peanut butter and strawberry jam mochi into her mouth with a pleased hum

"Really good. Thank you so much, Dan! I'll be back another day!"

And with that, the happy starry Fuyuko skipped off with Blop nested rather snugly in her hat and pleased at how the day had gone.
