Not poison - secret ingredient

Siris didn't always like doing just anything for his boss, but when he was tasked with baking them a pumpkin pie as fall began he couldn't help but wonder if there was somebody else better suited to such a task. At his own home he pulled an apron on over his regular clothing and set to work doing this silly little task. He had a recipe book open on the counter that he referenced once or twice, but the for the most part he was free-handing. Pumpkin pies couldn't be that complicated, right?

As he stirred the pumpkin and spice mixture with one hand, drinking coffee with the other but it was a bad idea which led to him fumbling both tasks. The bowl began to try and migrate off the edge of the counter and in his effort to grab it he instead just dumped his coffee into the bowl. He had only read the recipe once, but he was pretty sure it hadn't mentioned coffee anywhere. He stared at it, his tired eyes assessing the situation before he set his mug aside, putting his hand on the side of the bowl to keep it in place this time before starting to stir again with the newly added coffee. Whatever, couldn't make it worse, right?

He was told to make two, so that's what he did. He didn't know why or what they were for. He didn't ask questions. Well, okay, he asked one question. He asked if he was to poison the pies, apparently that was not the goal however. Perhaps the boss just really craved pumpkin pie. Unfortunately for Siris, he did what he was tasked to do. He took a nap as they cooled off in the fridge, and when they were done he packed them up in boxes he had picked up that store when he was gathering his ingredients. Well, minus his one un-expected addition of coffee. That he already had. He made his way back to his Bosses house where he set them on their table and watched as they opened them and cut one of them only, taking out a piece and trying it.

"That is surprisingly good, good job Osiris" they said, seemingly impressed he managed to pull off this despite having proven no such baking skill beforehand. Siris let out a breath he didn't know he had been holding. He hadn't tried them at all before leaving with them. He didn't want to make a third one just to have hanging around his place, he wouldn't have eaten it in a timely manner and it would have just gone bad. It wasn't ramen or coffee, which was most of his diet. Then again, there was coffee in it. Not that there was supposed to be...

"Thanks, probably my secret ingredient" Siris stated flatly as he rubbed the strand of hair in front of his face with his thumb and index finger, looking to the other pie that remained untouched. He wondered what it was even for.

"You didn't poison them, correct?" his boss asked, clearly trusting he didn't as he took another bite without his clarification.

"Of course not, it's a secret though so you'll never know" Siris said, smiling pleasantly.

"Well whatever it is, maybe it will win" their boss said as they stood up, closing the box of the one that hadn't been cut yet. Siris tilted his head, wondering what they meant by that. They seemed to notice "oh, right, I'm entering this into a bake-off" they answered his confusion.

Siris couldn't help but be a little caught off guard as to why their boss was entering a baking competition. Or... Was Siris? He quietly pointed at himself in silent question and was met with a nod. Oh. Siris was attending a bake-off, apparently. Very well. "Must I continue to wear the apron, boss?" he asked.

"Oh, almost definitely" they said.
