Sour and Sweet?

"You're sure that they won't mind something sour?" Gummi asks, turning the bottle of sour candy powder bottle in their hooves. "Like, absolutely sure?"

"I'm sure! Trust me on this, Mi!" Stitchi replies with a devilish grin, taking the bottle and putting it in the cart. "Plus, I think Frowns especially will love a fun twist on her fave desert."

"Okay," Gummi squints at their littermate- they recognize his smile from many childish moments before this. "If you are getting me involved in a prank, I should get to punch you in the shoulder- just saying."

Stitchi puts a hoof on the shorter buns arm, trying his best to keep up his act. "As is your right! But it is just for fun- no pranks."

"I'll believe it when Hell freezes over, man."

"Alright, alright!" He chuckles, pushing the cart forward. "Can we just get the rest of the ingredients? What do we need for cupcakes?"

Gummi sighs but follows along- listing off other ingredients they need. They don't like getting dragged into the prank war between their littermate and his friends- but they want to try something new. Ugh, what a pain in the ass. They liked to see Stitchi entertained, but they also hated cleaning up his mess. They guessed they would have to see what comes of this- and pray it wasn't a mess they'd have to deal with.

"Ok, and your total is gonna be 15 carats for everything!" The cashier chirps, but it is obvious from their expression that they want their shift to end already.

The two greed buns wince a little, but they pay for all the ingredients nonetheless- grabbing their bags and leaving the market, chatting and wondering what the final result of their venture would be.

----

"Alright, and we're going to my apartment for this, yes?" Gummi asks as the two enter the elevator of their apartment building- hoof hovering over the wall of buttons.

"Yep! My kitchen isn't stocked for making sweets like yours is."

With their littermates reply, Gummi presses the button for the second floor.

"I don't even bake, bro! I make candy out of my house- not the same."

"Some stuff probably carries over, doesn't it? It's all sugar!"

"Maybe? Candy and pastries are different fields, so who the fuck knows!" Gummi chuckles as the elevator dings and slips back open- allowing the two buns to exit and head to a nearby door marked 202. Once inside, the two head for the kitchen

"Differences in medium aside- We have the greatest helper of all for baking novices like ourselves."

"The internet?"

"Yes, but what I mean is," Gummi reaches into one of the bags they're carrying, pulling out a yellow box with decals of lemons on it. "Packaged cake mix, Stitchi! Come on!" They groan, starting to pull other items out to place on the counter.

"Yes, chef!" Stitchi replies, unloading his bags onto the counter as well. "Do you have the recipe pulled up?"

"It's on my phone- gimme a sec to unpack."

----

After they get everything unpacked, the two buns get to work on analyzing the recipe and portioning out ingredients based on what is required. It's a lengthy process not helped by the almost sibling-like bickering. Eventually the two stand before the oven, watching the time tick down slowly- indicating how close the cupcakes were to being done.

"Any day now- I'd like to get the icing on these bad boys!"

"Y'know they have to cool, right? If we don't let em cool, the icing will melt right off and go all over the counter."

"And you said you didn't know how to bake!"

"That's just common sense, Stitchi! You combine hot and cold and the cold will melt!"

This was about to be a long, long, night...
