[PROMPT] Buns best friend [6]

It had taken Damon a while to come around to the idea of having an imp. He had some when he was younger but they had been rehomed since at the time they just weren't the right fit. In his current state and stage of life he did consider going back for at least one, He knows of one that would be happy to come back. Of course, the owner would be fine with that too but for now its just an idea. After he retired his old job he came around to the idea properly again. This is how he ended up with Amon.

He had purchased wagashi, but before he had a chance to open it and try it himself...someone else offered to let him try theirs. He was obviously not too pleased with the fact that his carats just went basically into thin air because he was trying some without opening his, but later he would be grateful for this. He had seen Hutches imp shop many a time, and interacted with Hutch himself many a time, but he had never gone in and looked properly. That didn't change really, but the same day he got his untouched wagashi he happened to stop into Quinces shop. It was one he had never considered looking into due to the price range but, he thought maybe if he looked he could get an idea of how long he would be willing to to save up, or as Ignition would say 'grind for', depending on the pets.

Walking in he had seen an array of imps of varying colours and patterns. It was vastly different from what Hutch had but he supposed there were reasons for that. Wagashi in hand, he had been looking around at the many variations before Quince herself came over as he had been hanging around a stellaram for quite some time. In his gut, he felt it was a cruel twist of fate...as he seemed to be attached to this little imp already but, his savings would NOT cover this at the moment.

"See you've taken interest in the sleepy little guy there." Quince grinned, hands on her hips in a confident stance.

Damon snorts briefly as the stellaram nudges against his hand softly. "I have, Unfortunately I don't have the funds to home him right now, Maybe in future."

Quince tilted her head and slowly glanced at the Wagashi in Damons hand. Damon didn't know this when he had walked in but his untouched Wagashi was actually something Quince very much loved and would take an alternative payment.

"Well, Say you gave me that Wagashi as payment instead, Would that be more in your range?" She asks. Damon pauses, waiting for some kind of punchline or joke but of course, Quince is sincere.

"You're...sure?" He hesitates as he asks, eyebrow raising singularly with slight confusion.

"Positive!" She beams again, and Damon clearly understands in the moment that she is absolutely not trying to joke or pul a fast one on him.

With that, the exchange was made, with a few small paperwork bits, and Damon left with his stellaram in his arms instead of the Wagashi. Quince waved them out cheerfully, clearly happy to have the Wagashi in place of the carats.

"Man, Am i grateful i didnt open that before coming to see you" He chuckles, The little thing already nodding off to sleep in his arms. It was incredibly soft, more than he had anticipated. He took a small detour on his way home to get a few bits for the little guy, and when they did finally get there he ended up collapsing on his couch with the ram rolling into a new sleeping position on his chest.

"I think i'll call you Amon. I've been doing some reading you see, and that seems to fit you quite well." Damon murmured and Amon shuffled further towards his face to boop against it with his small nose comfortably in agreement. They fell asleep there rather quickly, whether it was Damons natural exhaustion or Amons soft wool that happened to get them to conk out first, no one will know.
