From Slumber To Party

Early morning at Dan's Dango was always quiet. Dan liked using this time at the beginning of the day to prepare his back stock of confections for the rush that usually occurs right after opening. He usually would ignore any knocking or pleads to be let in early. But today was different. He was expecting someone. When he heard a singsong voice outside the entrance of his shop, he halted his mochi pounding and hurried to the door. 

Darlet was in a very good mood today. Having run about the entirety of Burrowgatory the night before in preparation for his plans today, he was finally ready to unveil his plans. First, he had to deliver a special surprise to one of his favourite cuddle buddies. Once he stood outside of Dan's Dango, he sang out loud to garner the attention of a preoccupied Dan. "Oooh lover boy. I got something for your boyfriend~" At this, the door swung open. A stern and red faced man stood in frame, scowling at Darlet before sighing and letting him in. 

"You have the cake?" Dan spoke in a cold tone. Eyeing the white and red striped bag dangling from the glutton's clawed fingers. 

"Does Shibani sleep through all of his alarms? Yeah. I picked it up from Quince an hour ago. I practically mowed down a nice throuple on the way here trying to make it before he got woken up by you whacking mochi loud as fuck with that mallet." Darlet weaved his way past tables, gunning straight for the back room of the shop. Dan followed close behind, not exactly thrilled by the company, but appreciative to be let in on the plans before hand. 

Shibani slept carefree in the center of his pillow mass. Darlet and Dan slowly crept in, slipping two boxes out of the striped plastic before carefully setting them down on a solid piece of ground. One box was carefully wrapped in red interwoven twine. The other, a white box holding the aforementioned cake. Dan made the first move, gently placing a hand on Shibani's forehead. Slowly rubbing his thumb over the pale bun's fuzzy scalp. "Wake up Shibani. You have a visitor." The soft breathing turned to faint yawning before Shibani opened his eyes. 

As he adjusted to the light, he first focused on Dan. Nuzzling his head deeper into the hand resting on him. Then turning his attention over to Darlet, who was there surprisingly early. "Oh. Hello there. It's been a little while, you haven't been drinking too much right?" He began to sit up, and noticed the boxes placed out for him. His eyes, while still tired, seemed to light up. "You remembered. That is so nice of you."

Darlet gave a light chuckle, moving to slip the lid off of the box. Inside was a multi layered red velvet cake. Shaped in the likeness of a plush cushion. "Ta da! The comfiest cake for the sleepiest boy. I couldn't have done it without a little help, and some coercion. Maybe a little bit of begging." He glanced to Dan, who shrugged his shoulders. "I wanted to be the one to deliver you a cake on your special day. But I also wanted to give you a little invitation." He turned, lifting the twine held box over to Shibani. 

When Shibani reached over to it, he recognized the pattern and easily pulled one string to unwind the entire package. Pulling the box open, he saw a folded piece of dark blue leather. As he pulled it from the box, the contents uncurled into a long sleek uniform. A full body suit, held together at points with metal rings that could be interlaced by rope to tighten the suit in whatever ways the wearer pleased. Shibani laughed, touched by the gift. "This is for me? I love it. But. What was your invitation?" 

Dan stood, moving over to a corner of the room to grab something. "Well. My housemate Jousah is changing up the theme of his party for All Sinners Day. He wanted to have a spooky or sexy costume party. You gotta wear something scary, or something scandalous." Dan returned with an outfit of his own. A grey belted suit that showed off his chest, and a leash that seemed themed for both his and Shibani's outfits. "End of the night we are gonna gather everyone up for a vote, and the best costume in each theme gets a prize. I figured you two would have fun, and I already made sure my room was prepared in case you need somewhere to crash if things get too tiring."

Dan held the costume up to his chest, smirking at Shibani who seemed lost in his imagination. "I thought you may like getting out a little. We don't have to do much, but it is a day of celebration. I would like to do something fun with you for your speci day." 

Shibani nodded his head approvingly. "I'd love to. I'd do anything if you were there with me." He eyed Dan with a smirk, this time his less stern face ending up just as red as before as he tried averting his eyes from the cheeky bun. "Thank you for the gifts and the invitation. We will be there. Are you going to be dressing up too?" 

Darlet gave a mischievous smile. "Oh you know it. Just wait and see what I have cooking up."
