[living in sin] good fortune
"Heehee, heehee hee....More, MORE!! More offerings to the great Poppy so you can see a year of great luck~~!! Heehaha!!!"
Poppy's cackling filled the cave as she stood below a broken torii, orange flames lighting the space behind her and casted an ominous shadow against her followers. They came up, pleaded for a year of good luck and blessings, and gave her an offering. She gave them a swift, "Thank you for your offering!" and sent them on their way. Little did they know, though, that she wasn't listening one bit. She could care less that their families were struggling or needed some good luck after a previous year of misfortune. Poppy only wanted to satisfy herself.
Her heart began to bloom larger with greed, almost beating out of her chest, the more offerings began to pile at her feet. She twirled her umbrella as she tapped her foot in impatience as the next patron began to walk up. They looked wearily up at her, "Dear Goddess Poppy, please send good fortune towards my family this year, as sickness has hit my mother and it's not looking good...I hope this offering will be enough."
The patron offered up a small bag of carats, to which Poppy had to restrain herself to turn her nose up at the amount, "Is that i-I mean, hee hee~ I can see what I can do, but I'm sure I can bring your family even more positive fortune if you offer a little more~~"
They gazed up at her with this pathetic look, sighing and pulling out a larger amount of carats to put in the sack. Poppy almost couldn't contain her glee, this was a sure amount to get that outfit she had been eyeballing for weeks, "Thank you for your offering~! Now go, I'm sure good fortune will follow you home~!!"
Poppy's cackling continued to echo around them even as they left, surely this was a sign of good fortune, right?
